I actually thought Davis played pretty well last night.  The plus minus came from him being out there with the second unit that kept forgetting to rotate to James Jones, but I don't think it reflects that much directly on him.

I still think we need to get more from him, but overall, I saw an improvement.

If he has James Jones guarding him Davis has to do a better job attacking him in the post. Of course that also goes double for Pierce/Green.

We really need Rondo to stay on the court this series.

The problem is, the Heat did a tremendous job all game of doubling anyone in the post.

For a team that is often guilty of over passing I'm suprised the team and coaches couldn't make the adjustment to the trapping.  If the Heat are going to immediately double everyoe who touches the ball then obviously someone is wide open and we have plenty of shooters.  How many times during the game did we see Ray Allen of all people waving his hands wildly for the ball with nobody within 10 feet of him.

The team/coaches also didn't adjust to how Bibby was playing Rondo early and basically made Rondo look like a fool and get into foul trouble.

Anyways I won't pin much of the blame on BBD; most of the team and coaching staff didn't show up.  Ray, JO, and Delonte were the only guys who had decent showings.  I would have included Pierce despite his slow start and turnovers but...  KG was for the most part invisible and he played 36 or 37 minutes!  So how do you blame a role player in BBD when supposedly the heart and soul of your team didn't show a whole lot more.

Yes they did, but the C's are a veteran enough team to use ball movement to make Miami pay for that.

Absolutely, and I think they did in the second half, but didn't in the first.

My point is though, that against the Heat, you simply can't pick on mismatches too much, because they are too quick with thier help.  The way you beat them is with ball movement.  So, I have no problem with Davis not backing down Jones.

-21 isn't surprising. He's lost something to the point where I cringe when they bring him in.

Doc should know better than to use Davis at the 5 and Green at the 4. I've seen that lineup a couple times and nearly lost it. There is no way we can rebound with even a smallish opposing team with Baby and Green at the 5/4. Either KG, JO, Krstic or another big has to chaperone those guys for rebounding help no matter what.

Agreed.

EDIT:  I should add that I don't think if Krstic is that guy, then we need either Rondo, Pierce or both in the game with them.  Baby/Krstic is a frontcourt that is poor at rebounding and creating offense, so we will need two other position players in the game who can help with that.

I would be pretty happy with Nenad getting more minutes, I thought he played very well in limited time yesterday. Active on the boards, at least attempting to play defense.

I agree. I'm not a big Nenad fan but he's better than Davis since he can actually knock down a few of those outside shots that Davis chucks up, and Nenad isn't quite as horrific on defense (though not great either).

I was being pretty serious when I said just about anybody is an upgrade over Davis. Except possibly Mr. "I averaged 3 points a game this year so Danny went and signed me" Troy Murphy.

Let's face it, Danny is a pretty terrible GM. He lucked out with Rondo, and his moves to get Ray and KG were no-brainers, so you can't give him any credit for that.

His trademark move is signing washed up, useless, injury-prone guys at the trade deadline who don't help the team at all, and re-signing idiots like Davis when no other GM in the league wants them. If we go down in flames to this Heat team I want him fired, and Doc too, frankly, for playing guys like Davis.

edit: being ranked 18th in offensive rating for a team with 4 all stars and Shaq is criminally bad. Nearly all of it is attributable a lack of shots for Pierce, Allen, and KG, and way too many shots for Rondo and Davis. Also, Doc should have told Rondo to play hard and go to the hoop every game on pain of being benched for failure to comply. He's really gotten the bare minimum out of these players from an offensive perspective, and he should be held accountable for that.

TP - I agree with your post. He played decently against Bosh and hit a couple outside jumpers when nobody else could do anything in the first half. He obviously needs to improve his rotations and get his energy level up, but people are acting like the James Jones thress were all his fault.

This thread is a little annoying to read. Many here are whining and throwing out Big Baby insults without any regard for what he has done for the team.

Haha. If you ignore the good things he's done it would tend to make him look a little worse. Aside from shooting, passing and rebounding, how great a player was Bird?

I had the impression he played well too, which I think was based on that first sequence where he grabbed an offensive rebound...but I just looked and his plus/minus was minus-9 in only 6 minutes! Ouch.

Oh, and the sun. I hate the sun. It´s always shining, shining, shining. It makes me sweat, and it hurts my eyes when I look at it. And it´s so lazy. The whole day it just hangs in the sky, as if it has nothing better to do. But all it takes is a little cloud, and this pansy is nowhere to be seen. I wish it would just go away.

And don´t get me started on water. It´s wet! Do I have to explain myself here?
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.
