They've been playing badly since the trade, only a very few good games in the regular season against sub par teams.

We got away with it against New York... but come on.. it's New York without Billups and an injured Stoudemire.

It seems really naive at this point to assume that they are magically going to show up again.

Am I wrong in thinking this?
Celtics' turn on switch for the playoffs: the last bastion of hope for battered Celtic fans.

You are not wrong thinking this, because they have been pretty bad. But I think the optimist (me) will not admit they suck just yet. Because the talent is their, we have 3 or 4, depending on shaq, possible starters on other teams. Just need to get them flowing, but it might be too late.

PseudoElite - I see your point, but I think it's unfair to Doc Rivers and the new players to expect them to play well this soon.

Yes - we need our bench like yesterday to produce. But how many other instances of player movement can you recall where a team is able to gel this soon with this much of an influx of new players?

Danny gave Doc a huge task, and to Doc's credit he is doing the best he can.

To me, it is still too early to call the bench bad. They just need time to gel, and yes - there is not much time for that to happen.

You're wrong about one thing: the Celtics bench has been bad all year.

And the number one thing it comes down to is the fact that Big Baby Davis is it's main constituent. He's terrible and he's always been terrible, but somehow people have managed to not see that until now.

Our bench was pretty crappy last year when he started getting significant minutes as well.

People seem to forget that our bench was good in 08 and 09 when we had guys like Posey and Powe coming off the bench and Davis never saw more than spot duty. Apart from that one playoffs run where KG went down and Davis filled in pretty well, he's been nothing but an awful player.

So you're right, nothing is going to change about that now, especially now after trading Perkins Doc pretty much has no option but to play that scrub. And we're sunk because of it.

Davis was freaking -21 on plus/minus today.
