Braves pitching coach Roger McDowell was suspended for two weeks without pay Sunday by Major League Baseball for inappropriate comments and gestures he made toward fans before a game in San Francisc

Quinn said he was in the stands with his wife and 9-year-old twin daughters before the April 23 game at San Francisco when he noticed McDowell ask three men "Are you guys a homo couple or a threesome?"

Quinn said McDowell made crude sexual gestures with his hips and a bat. Quinn said he shouted, "Hey there are kids out here."

According to Quinn, McDowell said kids don't belong at a baseball park, picked up a bat, walked up to Quinn and asked him, "How much are your teeth worth?"

Seriously?  Two weeks for attacking fans for their sexual preference, making lewd gestures in front of children, and threatening to knock a fan's teeth out?

I don't know, I'm not all that politically correct, but I'm shocked that he got off as lightly as he did.  Conduct toward fans is a pretty big deal these days.

Not to defend the coach, but I doubt his version of the events would closely resemble that. Even if you ignore the gay comments there's now way a team would tolerate threatening a man with a deadly weapon.

Was it caught on camera?  If not, probably why the sentence seems a little light.  PR matters, just like the Kobe incident a couple weeks back.  Plus we're only hearing one side of the story so it may not be as extreme as the fan is describing.

Either way McDowell sounds like he acted like a real-life Kenny Powers, and is deservedly paying for it.  Two weeks is no joke.

Yea, some verrrrrrryyy interesting behavior, but if there's no video, I can see why he only got two weeks.
