I understand why Danny did not or could not sign him, but do the celts miss his energy and toughness. Hearing the Memphis fans chant his name tonight was great.

I would have liked Danny to have kept him, particularly for the cheap contract he got.

But you know, I don't know how much I can blame him for it particularly when he signed Wafer who I think has played well for us, and we had Daniels, and we signed West. Then Danny focused on getting a lot of center depth.

But all in all, it would have been nice to have kept him. Though, with the trades at the deadline, I wonder if TA would have been gone regardless.

Nice to see him going well in a system that uses a bit more of his slashing than what the Celtics did for him, and nice to see him playing some tough defense and succeeding.

But then you get two TA possessions like you just saw, and you're kinda glad he's not around anymore lol.

Spacing problems and too unpredictable. I be holding my breath when he touches the ball.

Tony's problem is his offensive skill set doesn't match his confidence level (which is huge) and that leads to boneheaded plays.

Tick or Treat Allen. Great decision by Lionel Hollins to take him out.

And great decision to put him back in, as his defense caused a turnover in a huge spot. He is a pass defecting machine, unreal ball skills...on defense.

What a great Game.

Now we get Perk against TA
followed by Celtics - Heat!

Tony has played tremendously well for the Grizzlies.

He's really capitalized on his fortunate opportunities.

But if he had stayed here in Boston he would not be playing and we would not be seeing this type of Tony that we are seeing now.

If you wanted to see this version of Tony in Celtic green...not only would Pierce have to go down with a season ending injury, but Doc would also have to sour on Ray and send Ray to the bench!!!

Props to Tony though, good job taking the ball and running with it.

I'm not sure if this has been posted anywhere but this is great article about Tony Allen of all in places in The Wall Street Journal.

I understand this argument, but not sure if I fully agree. Tony's always had a bunch of nagging injuries and was never fully recovered from that ACL tear while he was here. I think that if we kept him here, we would've seen a TA similar to the one we're seeing in Memphis just with fewer minutes. No one really missed him when he left, but in a bit of revisionist history, we would've been a lot better with him.

I was hoping for a Boston - San Antonio finals... We could beat these Spurs... OKC and Memphis are scary...

tp on wsj article. that was fantastic.  it's like he's a different guy. am sure he is the same. it's just that there was s so much emphasis on all the negative junk in boston press about him. refreshing to read an in depth article that does not dig up his off the court stuff, which seems like a distant memory now. am very happy for tony, and would root for the griz against any team other than the Celtics (sorry Perk, but all the kudos would go to Durant if the Thunder were to win).

TA is a beast on defense.  He's Dwyane Wade without the offense, passing, or ball-handling.
