Seriously, talking about the Red sox 24/7 on this station is one thing, however that is not what really grinds my gears...

It all started a few weeks ago when the sox started playing spring training games. When the sox and celts were playing on the same night, they would broadcast exhibition red sox games over the celtics games. I said to myself, OK, this nonsense should stop when the celtics are in the playoffs. Well, on Easter Sunday as I'm driving home from my family activities, I fully expected to turn the station to 105.5 FM (Western Mass) and listen to the 4th quarter. Ofcourse, they were playing the red sox meaningless April game. I tried finding an alternate WEEI station to listen to the game to and could not find anything. I could swear there must be one, but I had no luck, and it p***ed me off.

Don't get me wrong, I love the sox, but there is a time and place for them, and it's not in April while the Celtics are in the playoffs... Anyone else having this problem???

I'm pretty sure WEEI doesn't have a choice. I think it has to do with ESPN having the rights to most of the playoffs games, therefore, ESPNradio is broadcasting them. Don't take my word for it, though.

Yeah, it also has to do with the syndicated stations I think (such as the one in Western Mass).  A lot of them have special contracts with the station which specify whether they get every Sox game.

I guess that makes some sense... Just a little frustrating.

It's ridiculous.  I was at a hotel bar before Game 4, and just as it's starting, the bartender switched the game over to the beginning of a fairly meaningless Sox game.

I would understand it if I got the sense that most people cared more about the Sox more right now, but everywhere I went in the city people were excited about the Celts.

It was on WEEI in MA. It was on 850 and I think the sox were on 680. Not sure about other places. I don't think ESPN has anything to do with radio broadcasts as for the last few years every Celts playoff game has been broadcast been Grande and Max

I dont get 850 AM in Springfield, I have to tune in to 105.5 FM, and they were broadcasting the Sox. I could have sworn there would be an alternate station though, but I did not find one on FM or AM

The Sox are something like the Miami Heat of the MLB right now: plenty of star power, not too much to show for it.

Haha.  The wife would have killed me if I didn't.  We were only there for a quick drink, so I didn't make a stink.

But yeah, I didn't expect to see the Cs disrespected like that.

This is what I absolutely hate about the Boston media.  They force feed you what they want to when it come to sports.  I think eventually they will begin to pay for this. As someone already mentioned, the Celtics are a very hot topic around town but you wouldn't know that from listening to the radio. I NEVER listen to or watch Boston media because they don't give the Celts their fair share of air time.  I think they miss a lot of people because of this.  From anecdotal evidence I would say the Celtics probably have the youngest fan base among all four Boston teams.  The media would be wise to adjust to the changing trends
