Now let me start by saying i am not one of those annoying skeptical, pessimistic celtics fan. I live and die by the celtic green, and all the moves they make and however they play. I just like to critisize them wen i feel they can be doing something better.

I have season tickets and have been to frequent games...dating back to before Rondo was in college. I have never seen a player control the destiny of a team as much as rondo. And I've been a follower of "If it aint Broke dont fix it" and lately, second half of the season, Rondo has been trying to earn respect of his defender by taking jump shots.

I dont care what any one says, Rajon could hit 50 jump shots in a row, and the defender would still play off him. I remeber in the Cavs series last year, lebron was quoted saying they had no answer for Rajon. Rondo has not been playing with the push the ball, drive and dish, make plays mentality. In the begining of the year he was averaging an absurd ammount of assists, and getting Paul and Ray and Kevin good looks....

But now, Rondo has slowed the offense down and has tried to hit that mid range jumpshot, that sure he hits....but do you ever remeber him taking 5-7 jump shots a game during last years playoff run?

I hope im not alone in observing this, but Rajon neeeds to be taking the ball to the holem more and pushing the ball more. look at last game, he took the ball to the hole and pushed the ball and got all his looks in the paint. Hopefully that game with give rondo to the urge to be the old Rondo.

Anyone in boston remebers Grand Theft Rondo, You Got Rondo'd.....etc. etc. etc. COME ON RAJON!!!!!! as the celtics go, you go......get ray and paul and kevin good looks and let ur offense come to you, dont force midrange jumpers early in the possesion

Is this is an old thread? I'd agree with you about a month or so ago but right now these past couple games in particular he's been fearlessly in attack mode. Also don't mind the occasional jumpshot he can knock it down.

Rondo just can't win for losing.

Yea... I mean this thread is like if someone went on a forum after hurricane katrina and talked about how much they hate new orleans lol. Guy has a triple double, breaks a bob cousy playoff record for assists and we cant give him one day without a negative thread?

Especially since he's finally doing what we've been clamoring for him to do all year, scratch that, for 3 years. He's finally taking advantage of the lack of defense played on him and shooting. And on top of that he's hitting a decent amount of shots.

Don't get me wrong OP i'm not trying to attack you or anything like that, I completely respect your right to say and feel whatever you want I was just really surprised when I check the stats after work (yes i missed THIS game of all games) and I see rondo has a triple double. I came on here expecting to see a lot of "let's see the rondo haters try and talk now" and the first thing I see is someone complaining about Rondo :P

He needs to take that shot, you want him to drive to the basket, right? Driving to the basket starts with getting your man all up in your grill at the 3 point line and blowing by him. You cant do that if someone has 6 feet of space in front of them to cut you off. If Rondo keeps taking/hitting these shots and the celtics win games teams are going to cover him. Then he is free to go off in the paint (ahem, just like he did in game 2)

I just find it strange to see this thread now after Rondo destroyed the knicks in the paint the other day. He cant take over EVERY game he plays, he's not jordan.

It's not even just the last 3 games, it's been like the last 15 games he's been puttin up tons of points. :D

Not to be a jerk, but I've pretty much covered literally this exact topic in a thread made about a week ago:

I understand your sentiment, but he's improving as a basketball player.  If he does the same thing people would eventually figure out an answer.  If he keeps adding to his game, he'll become unstoppable.
If teams are giving him an open jumper, wouldn't it be nice if he can make it?  The only way he'll do that is to practice and keep shooting until he improves.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think it's getting to the point where teams are having to give him more respect for the jumper.
He doesn't need the jumper anyway, he is attacking .
If they hang off him and give him the space then he can charge them and change direction with his euro two step and finish at the hole or draw another defender and dish.

And yes, probably the worst timed thread in a while.. lol.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
