I think it's ok to commemorate this since

1. It's one of the greatest playoff performances ever

and

2. We won anyway  8)

I never saw early Jordan; it's really interesting how much more he leaned on his athleticism and driving compared to his later years.

Also cool to hear Tommy on the national broadcast - he must've had to bite his lip 50 times a game to keep pretending to be neutral.

I remember watching that game on TV...Jordan was all over the place, and just starting to make his name on the NBA.

I was thinking about him as Carmelo was going off last night - and sure enough we won.

Not many players can single-handedly beat Boston. That's why I love our opportunity vs Rose, Kobe, Lebron, whomever.

A little about like last night.  Carmelo was the best player on the floor (at least offensively), however the team with the deeper talent won.

And again, before anyone goes nuts here, remember my first sentence: a little bit like last night.

I was at that game. It was last minute, spur of the moment dash from Plymouth to Boston. The game was sold out and the only available tickets were obstructed view.  We traded them in to a scalper + $90 each for still terrible seats, but not obstructed  (a lot of money at that time). We were in the penthouse seats (joke), up near the organ in the old garden...with the occasional pigeon (that's true)!  ;D  We needed binoculars to tell the players apart! Most exciting game I  ever saw in person, and I felt so lucky to be there.

  • Lets Go Celtics!
But Rose is up 3-0 against the 8th seed Pacers!! GOAT! ;) (when chicago could easily be down 0-3)

A little BSPN for ya, but seriously I watched a video online of this game, unreal.

I saw that game on TV and was really impressed with Jordan. If I am not mistaken though Bird and McHale combined for the same number of points that Jordan had, 63.

I think too that was the game where MJ shot the most incredible shot I have ever seen. He was around the free throw line and juked and jived a bit before pulling up for what he thought was an easy 12 footer. Then Parish came out of nowhere and threw his hand up about 11 feet and had Jordan's number. While falling back and slightly to the left he switched hands and shot the ball left handed and hit the shot.

Dont' confuse this shot with the one where he simply switched hands on a layup. This shot was 5 times more difficult.

yeah, that play and his baseline drive and dunk were my two most favorite plays from his performance.  He electrified the Garden that day.
