So the explanation we received from Danny Ainge was that he felt that we were fine on the frontcourt but what we really needed was a wing player to give Paul and Ray some rest.

Half way through the first round, Ray has logged 42 and 39 minutes, Pierce has logged 30 and 45 whereas Jeff Green has played a majority of his minutes out of position at the 4.

When push comes to shove, we downgraded our frontcourt and didn't make make our perimeter any better.  Jeff Green has been a complete failure and really has no role on this team

Well Green has spent most of that time at the 4 covering SF's and SG's playing out of position.

There are plenty of arguments against Jeff Green, but this has just been a matchup issue based on how the Knicks play.

Come on. Give the guy a break. He needs to learn the system. He has only played 28 games as a Celtic, blah blah blah. I think Doc playing him 12 minutes last night says all you need to know about Jeff Green's contributions to date. The guy has been pretty close to a bust. They brought him in to spell Pierce and Pierce had to play 45 minutes last night.

Well last night isn't a good indicator since Green was in foul trouble all night long.
That said I've certainly been underwhelmed to this point.

Doc just doesn't trust the new guys either. So it really isn't all the players's fault....Doc has responsibilities too.

Doc didn't trust our bench in Game 7 of last year's finals either.

Yeah, I think there are still plenty of us out there.

I've been for it all along, but at this point I'd rather have Perk and use Wafer, or make a more serious run at Corey Brewer.

Shooting Guard: Paul Westphal, Paul Pressey

Up 2-0, let's hope they're halfway through the 1st round!   ;)

If we had Perk, we'd be up 3-0 by now.

Because he's an immensely talented 24 year old with a team friendly impending restricted free agency.

It certainly looks like he is not being utilized for what he was brought in here for, at least yet. I am not a coach, but I trust that Doc is doing the right thing.

There are still many games to be played - at least 14 or maybe more?

He has shown flashes of brilliance in some games. The bottom line is that Paul, Jeff, KG and Glen will have their hands full with NY and Amar'e and Carmelo until we move on to either PHI or MIA.

After seeing these two (Amar'e and Melo) in the series thus far, they have (IMO) the potential to be a GREAT frontcourt - especially once they both learn to play off one another and tighten up their defense.

With that being said I am very happy that Boston has managed 2-0 in the series. Sure - Jeff played only 12 min last night, and from what I understand he only subbed for Paul for a few min? His stats line read:

12min, 2-8 shooting, 6 pts, 3 rebs.......and we won by how many points?

Three?

I loved Marquis Daniels and I miss him as well as Perk.....but how would HE have done vs Carmelo last night? Marquis is only 6'6" and maybe 220? I think Melo would've abused ANY one last night. He was out of his mind.

The thing I'm happy about the most is that we will more than likely NOT see an outburst like that from either Amar'e or Melo again, thankfully.

But back to Jeff - he will pan out. We have to remember that Doc is still trying to get Jeff (as well as Nenad, Sasha, Murph and JO) acclimated to Celtics Style. As some of us have mentioned - that doesn't happen overnight. Boston has a very intricate way to play defense and offense.

If we can keep this team together after June - I'd love to see what a Training Camp could do for them.

Doc has a HUGE job in front of him...and I'd rather have no other coach on our bench right now.

I love when Green's performance with the celtics is used to judge the trade, but Perk's performance on the thunder isn't.

Perk had 4 points and 5 rebounds (and it would have been 2 and 4 if not for an awful call) in 28 minutes as Nene went off on him.

Now, I am not saying this to say that Green would be a better player than Perkins.

But it is clear to me that people wildly overrate Perkins at this point.
