How many times did BBD get blown by last night because he was too busy watching Carmelo and not the guy he was supposed to be guarding.

Watch the replay of that jefferies bucket late.  BBD isn't even trying to play defense on him.  He too distracted on whether he needs to double carmelo or not.  Happened atleast 4 times that game.

Not sure if the doubles hurt or helped.  I think I only saw the double team really work once and Carmelo was forced to pass.

Think we should double Carmelo in game 3 if he's hot again like that?  Or just let him get his.

The doubles helped.  Douglas, Jeffries, and Mason made us pay a couple of times...but overall their efficiency went down from when Melo was just taking the ball to the hoop right between Green and Davis.

As far as Game 3...completely depends on Amare's situation

Here's a novel concept: when you double-team, you concentrate on the guy you're double-teaming. The rest of the team is supposed to adjust to make passing out of the double-team difficult (that typically means switching so that the open man is all the way on the weak side).
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

The double team was very effective. Koz is right about the rotations which were great the last 3 minutes of the game. I would rather have the ball in the hands of Jeffries, Douglas, or Biull Walker any day. If Amare is back for game 3, you have to be a little more careful but I havent seen the ability of Carmelo and Amare to play the 2 man game very effectively.

The double teams most certainly helped, credit doc for doing that. I found it crazy that KG was spazzing in the huddle saying "I got him!" and wanted to guard Melo, I wonder what Pierce thought of that? I woulda loved to see Garnett guard him for a few posessions lol.

;D
a few times rondo had him at the top of key and did a nice job on him as well
when carmelo plays like that it has to be defense by committee

to me the best way to defend carmelo is make him defend pierce and green, he seems to be lazy on defensive end and should foul out if refs call the fouls properly  IF

Agree, you have to make Carmelo work on defense & yea we've seen Rondo do an amazing job on LeBron James before in a game @ home vs Miami. Bigger players are afraid to dribble when Rondo is guarding them because his hands are so good.

I wouldn't make too much of that. At this point of the game, Garnett would have probably volunteered to guard the entire Knicks team at the same time, and would have made it known in no uncertain terms. That's who he is.

I am not sure KG on Anthony is such a good idea. You want to force him to be a jump-shooter, and having a bigger Garnett is opening the door for him to drive.

What is even more funny is after that exchange...Melo didnt score again.

I'd much rather see the ball in Jeffries' hand versus the hot hand of Carmello.

In his post-game, Doc addressed the double team strategy, saying that that was the source of our rebounding problems in the game, and that the strategy was a dual-edged sword.

Sounded like he was weighing the + and - and would reevaluate when, situationally, it would be used.

That's just crap. We were getting beat throughout the game regardless of that double teaming.

Sounds like another attempt to blame everything on Big Baby. ::)

You double off of Jeffries because he is the worst offensive player on the Knicks.

You use Davis to double because he is the thickest body out there.
