Kenyon Martin would be an excellent addition to the Celtics.

Imagine the defensive combinations between Kenyon, Garnett and Jermaine O'Neal. Beautiful.

Kenyon will want a multi-year deal though so you'd have to sacrifice some of that 2012 cap flexibility.

Well, it all depends on how the new CBA works out (that cap flexibility will not come into focus until we see that), but I agree Martin is a very interesting target. 

I think they are going to have to choose between giving someone a longer term deal that could cut into that cap space (which may be a figment of our imaginations anyways), or signing significantly worse players.  Really, I don't see any impact players signing 1 year deals. 

My guess is they will either only use part of the MLE for multi-year deals, or they will use close to the whole MLE (assuming there is an MLE of course) on a guy they see being an important part of the team through the transition.  Martin could be a guy like that...although his injury history is very scary.

i just hope we can get a *reliable* big aka no more knee injuries !! or past knee injured players and some talent that can run with rondo i dont see the big 3 keeping up with him anymore

You are right on the money!

I agree with you. And, if the C's do lose Glenn Davis, I wouldn't mind seeing Kenyon Martin in green. Attitude aside, he will be a good addition: he brings defense and rebounding presence. If they re-sign Troy Murphy, Jeff Green and Krstic, the team will be set for at least another 3 years.

I believe that the trade did bring some moments of instability, even until now. But, you can't argue what Jeff Green can do for this team if he plays some major minutes. And Murphy, when he gets his game back, will be a good option at PF/C. He can drain the mid-range shots and occasional 3's. So, bringing K-Mart in, solves the Perkins-less defense mindset with the intimidation plus a few alley-oop highlights.
