No cap space in 2011, no Dalembert (who would be great in green).

Too soon to know, but the Celtics might need to get some Baby's replacement. Carl Landry, Chuck Hayes or even the Cookie Monster are free agents.

IMO, AK47 and Tayshaun Prince could be a good complement to Ray, Pierce and Green, but they'll probably be out of reach. Players like Redd, Dunleavy or Josh Howard could be interesting for limited money.

In 2012 the Celtics will have the cap space, unless Danny makes a deal at the deadline or in the Draft. We'll have to wait until then.

The winds have shifted. We are definitely ready for free agency. I appreciate what has been achieved. Now time for Break em Up Party. At least crack some plates. For the sake of the Celtics lets rearm.

Well after watching 2 playoff games of rondo running a fast break nearly by himself I'd say we need to be looking at fast mobile players or at least youth.  It will be interesting to see what danny can do with that draft pick from perk deal.

If Dalembert does not stay with the Kings, I see him going to Miami. He fits perfectly there. He fills a position of desperate need for them, nice climate, no State taxes, swank city with a large Haitian population, and (relatedly) is very close to his homeland. I'd like him here, but I think Miami makes too much sense for him if they want him.

I'd like Tyson as well. If we can afford him and he wants to leave Dallas I would be very happy.

If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

Isn't miami over the cap next season as well?  Isn't dalembert  likely to get more than the mid?

I think the direction the Cs go with FA depends a bit on whether Shaq will be back or will retire.

If he's back (this assumes an offseason will help him fully recover), then the Cs have:

Rondo, Allen, Pierce, KG, Shaq, JO, Bradley under contract.

I assume Green will be back on the qualifying offer.

It would be nice to have West back, and it seems unlikely he'll command big money in the FA market.

Assuming the Cs want to retain as much flexibility going into 2012, that then leaves the room to sign a backup C, backup PF, backup SG for basically the vet min.

I think BBD is gone.

I like the idea of Chuck Hayes, or even Jeff Foster, as backups but they might be too expensive.  I think we are looking more at options like Etan Thomas, Kurt Thomas and Sasha Pavlovic for the respective backup positions I mentioned (those are examples of the type of backup players that one could get for the vet min).

The above would not be the best team in the league, it would certainly be an old team, but, on a shortened season, it would be fairly competitive.  If not, there would be a ton of expiring contracts that could be used at the trade deadline to bring in the next generation....

The more I think of it, this team hasn't really used the MLE to build their roster.  It has been used more to patch holes from season to season.

This team needs avery to produce something next year. Either as a viable bench player or in a trade.  And we need to draft a piece that we can put on the floor this comming season. Also they need green for the entire preseason and have a plan to incorporate him into the offense more.

Hopefully a sign and trade of baby can yield us something.  I don't feel like he is comming back.

A healthy delonte west as combo guard off bench is fine by me I would also keep wafer around as he has proven to be good 3rd string sg.
pg-rondo, west, bradley (if he improves)
sg-ray, west, wafer

unless ray is moved for younger sg, ray is going to get interest but same as last year if we can't get at least his quality back no reason to move him

next year there is going to be a lot of activity for the celts...it is this year or bust....if they don't win, it is time to tear it all apart quickly and rebuild

Rondo - Bradley
Allen - West
Pierce - Green
Garnett - Murphy
O'Neal - O'Neal

Add a couple of rookies, an MLE big and Krstic - your 2011-12 Boston Celtics.

As a side note, I would love to see Wafer and Arroyo back in green next season.

I agree that it is unlikely he is coming back, but I think it is more bc DA will want the flexibility of cap space in 2012, so will hesitate to sign long term contracts.  For that same reason, I think its unlikely that the Cs get anything back in a S&T.  And realistically, which team is going to throw more than the MLE at BBD?

I agree with you. And, if the C's do lose Glenn Davis, I wouldn't mind seeing Kenyon Martin in green. Attitude aside, he will be a good addition: he brings defense and rebounding presence. If they re-sign Troy Murphy, Jeff Green and Krstic, the team will be set for at least another 3 years.

I believe that the trade did bring some moments of instability, even until now. But, you can't argue what Jeff Green can do for this team if he plays some major minutes. And Murphy, when he gets his game back, will be a good option at PF/C. He can drain the mid-range shots and occasional 3's. So, bringing K-Mart in, solves the Perkins-less defense mindset with the intimidation plus a few alley-oop highlights.

Kenyon Martin would be an excellent addition to the Celtics.

Imagine the defensive combinations between Kenyon, Garnett and Jermaine O'Neal. Beautiful.

Kenyon will want a multi-year deal though so you'd have to sacrifice some of that 2012 cap flexibility.
