Both are quick players with really good size and talented offensively, but Gerald just goes at everything 100 miles an hour while Jeff is tentative.

I just wish Jeff had gerald's brain in his head, because talent wise and athleticism wise they're pretty similar.

Thoughts?

Wallace has a killer instinct , he is fearless and believes every effort is a sure bucket.

If Green hits one or two ,then he plays up and better, if he misses he retracts and doesn't postion himself to get the ball.

I saw 3-4 wide open opportunities for Green to break across the paint for an ally hoop dunk from west and Rondo, they were watching him , but he failed intitiate the play so they could throw the lob. Lack of confidence or role playing to the big three.

This is where his lack of unspoken communication with teamates and trust in himself and wanting to take charge on offense has yet to mature. It may take another season to gel.

Wallace is more of a defensive, hard nosed, hustle guy. Green seems more of an offensive weapon to me. Similar body structures and what not but I dont think they have similar games. I would love Green to transform into Wallace but I dont think itll happen.

One of the announcers touched on this during the game, and it's surprising that fans gloss over when it comes to Jeff Green: he had to make serious adjustments when he came to Boston. 1.) Specifically, him going from being a starter to coming off the bench - I've heard a lot of NBA players comment on how different both roles are and how difficult it is togo from starting everynight to coming off of the bench. 2.) Playing a ton of SF minutes instead of PF - obviously, he's a natural SF. But in OKC, he started at PF and has done so for many years. 3.) In OKC, he wasn't asked to guard the best perimeter players during games. That was Thabo Sefolosha's job. But here Green is, trying to D up Melo. 4.) OKC was a good team, but the stakes in Boston are HIGHER. Going from a fanbase that was just happy to make the playoffs a season ago to one that EXPECTS a championship is a different type of pressure.

Honestly, I think Green is a VERY talented player who the fans can be hard on sometimes. I do think the kid is going to be an asset for us in the near future. So far, I've been impressed with how he's handled everything. By all accounts, he's a hardworker and a good teammate - yes, we'd like to see it come together on the floor for him, but his time is coming. Trust that.

Sorry for the rant, but all of the "Jeff Green sucks" comments that have been floating around were starting to annoy me.

Gerald Wallace's nickname is "Crash" because of his reckless, physical style.  I don't ever picture Jeff Green being the type of player to warrant a nickname like that.  That's just not what he's made up of.

Wanted add that Green is used to WEST COAST ball.  He is going to have to get tuff and meaner .  Wallace looks like a monster playing out west now.

Green is quicker and runs the floor so fast.  Wallace is more or a contact player

Did we have a nickname for Marquis? Jeff Green is kinda like him....not expressive or flashy but can get the job done. Unfortunately, he hasn't played all that well for us.

12 minutes for "the best player in the deal" tonight, and he shot a sizzling 2-8 from the floor and 1-2 from the line. Meanwhile, his partner in crime played 3 minutes and contributed a big goose egg. Right now, this trade looks worse than it ever had. Unbelievable.

Can we please for the love of god not bring this around to the trade again?

Keep it on topic.

That's where the repercussions of a trade-deadline trade comes into play.

The communication will be much better with a full training camp.

He can still impose his prowess against the opposition's second unit. He doesn't seem to have that instinct right now.

I don't know if he is uncomfortable or tentative, but he needs to start helping this team like he is capable of, which is more than he currently is.

I know it is just two games, but what better time than at home against a D'Antoni team?

You are right. So far, Jeff Green has been pretty much a bust for the Celtics. Most passive player I have ever seen.

Passive? He attempted 8 shots in 12 minutes.

If Glen Davis had done the same, this would be another "Baby = Black Hole" threads.

Its not just two games. He did play in 24-26 regular season games before the playoffs. I understand it doesn't compare to the whole training camp but he is talented enough to produce more than he has thus far.

From what I have seen, his whole approach to the game is to lay back and watch what happens. Yes, he took 8 shots tonight, which is a lot for him. Normally he takes 3-4. When I talk passive, I basically mean a guy without a killer instinct. That is Jeff Green. The one thing good for the Celts is if they want to keep him, he has probably lowered his value since coming here.
