It's an interesting thought, and who knows, maybe this was even the trade that "fell through" that Doc and Danny have mentioned.
I think its not inconcievable that the Bobcats wouldn't value Perkins nearly as much as OKC, based on the fact that they wouldn't have been able to resign him until he hit free agency this summer, and he wouldn't have had a chance to make them a contender this season.
And especially since they are likely holding out hope they can get Chris Paul in 2012, they might not have been interested in giving Perkins a big deal this summer to make his value worth it for them. His contract could very well be what makes them unable to get Paul under the cap.
So, they would likely be looking at Perkins as a rental/expiring contract, which means the C's would have had to come close to matching the 2 first rounders, along with Perkins to beat the Blazers offer.
And from Danny's point of view, which is the better deal, Perkins and Nate for Green, Nenad, and a potentially valuable pick, or Perkins, Daniels, and a first round pick or two for Wallace.
Especially given Wallace's lack of shooting ability (which would not combine well with Rondo), and the fact they wouldn't be getting another center in return, I just don't think there was a good fit there.
I think this is just a good example of a trade that just doesn't work, not because of value, but the pieces just don't fit.
