Am guessing it would be McHale's job if he wants it.  He and Danny are very tight.  Personally I think this window - for being competitive anyway - is a bit longer than many here think.  Pierce has 3 more years.  Ray doesn't look like he's slowing down anytime soon and with this game, he may be able to play till he's 40.  KG is kind of an X factor because I believe he's hinted at retiring once his deal is up but there also aren't a lot of jobs that pay 10 mill a year. Rondo's still here long term.

Of course there's the matter of a center..... >:(

If Doc leaves after this season, we should get Adelman! The big 3 should still be here and depending on the CBA and free agent pickups, we should still be contenders.. With all due respect to Lawrence Frank, Rick Adelman is one of the great coaches who deserve to win a championship and this would be a great opportunity for him.. I just hope the Lakers don't get him first, they can have Jerry Sloan for all I care!

All star weekend KG had hinted if Doc goes or theres a lockout  he will retire and "fade into black". KG with all his brand deals throughout his career has made about  300 million. Yeah Ray has a couple of years left but he also has said w lockout he would spend time coaching his kids  and live through them w basketball or pursue  front office position. And  Paul has stated if Ray/KG / Doc gone he will be too. Doesn't want to be the only "old" guy hanging around. They all made their money. This team may look really diff next season

Doc already stated clearly that if KG and Pierce are here, he will be, too, but I personally would love to get Doug Collins, (I know he probably won't be available), and Adelman's not bad. ;)

Doug Collins: The only coach in the history of basketball that couldn't win a title with Michael Jordan.

not true....kevin loughery and stan albeck (although jordan was hurt most of the season when albeck coached the bulls)

The following quotes from Adelman weren't very impressive if you ask me:

Quote
"I look at the team today," Adelman said in late February. "In 3½ years since I came here, we have only two guys left, Luis and Chuck. That's not a lot of stability. I came to coach Yao and Tracy and ended up with Luis and Chuck.

"It is kind of amazing those are the only two guys left," Adelman said. "I told them, 'This is the group we have. What are you going to make of it?' That is the same approach I have to take."

I look at the season George Karl had in Denver and hear Adelman's quote...sour grapes.

He has been the victim of very tough luck but I think he could have approached this with more accountability.

The difference is that George Karl ended up getting exactly what he wanted.  Karl thrives without a so-called superstar.  (The snitchster will be exposed for the vastly overrated Iversonesque talent that he is in NY)

Adleman did a remarkable job with the hand he was dealt.

I VOTE:  NONE OF THE ABOVE

I vote we recuit the best talent and keep DOC at all costs.

Heat and OKC have suspect coachs in my book and are were they are because just loaded with natural talent , anybody could get to the playoffs.

Doc is the REAL DEAL , not many people could pulloff what he did this year coaching.
