I like my sports so I see alotta ESPN. It was pretty funny today I noticed them commenting on that game 1 and their take on thing really discredits the celtics. I noticed this with Lebron last year too. They saw the game and witnessed carmelo 'needlessly pressing' and 'nervous about his first game as a knick' or 'settling for jumpers for no reason'. Whereas Boston fans saw that game and witnessed JO for portions of the game shutting down the paint and Paul Pierce locking down Carmelo Anthony. I guess thats just how it is

It also took the mass media until game 6 of the finals to start giving the C's some cred last season, too.

Of course they're not! They haven't done it for four years now.

It hadn't made any difference to our success.  Just makes their "experts" look laughable.

Is there a fan base that is convinced the national media gives them enough respect?

The 'experts' are just where I want them.  I want the C's to play with a bit of an underdog's chip on their shoulders.

The guy who started the thread has that opinion, but everyone else pretty much disagreed with him, and then the thread got locked..

All you have to do disprove your "evidence" is read the replies.

Um, I disagree. Everything I've heard is that the Lakers were the more aggressive, active team and that took the Celtics out of their game. Kobe is the best player in the world. Gasol has matured and isn't soft anymore. Bynum is playing well through injury. Artest set the tone of the game with his physical play 27 seconds into the game. If anything, we're getting too much respect, considering it's only Game 1.

ESPN never gives Celtics their due credit. They said when Ray, KG and Paul became the Big 3 that they would have problems to gel and that they wouldn't win, but what do you know? The Celtics not only went on a run from the get go, but they had the best record and won the championship that year spanking the Lakers in the most laughable embarrassing and historic way.

They now try to peg the Miami 3 as the favorites to win the title and when they struggled made every excuse in the book for why they didn't live up to the hype that ESPN and they created. Remember they said the Heat were gonna break the Bulls record and become the best Big 3 ever assembled.

ESPN can give "historic" stats of how many points Miami's 3 have being that they're to them the best big 3 ever created, but they still can't give the Celtics their due. Heck they already predicted a championship with them beating the Lakers when LeBron did his decision special. Let them talk, I love it and I love them not giving the Celtics their due. It would make the defeat of both the Heat and the Bulls (hopefully) much better on their way to getting banner 18.

I don't agree about Laker fans.  They constantly speak of being disrespected. I live in L.A. and I know what I hear and read.

They even complained about the refs bias yesterday and not getting to the free-throw line more than New Orleans. They said since the NBA own the Hornets they had more attempts at the free-throw line. They still blamed Pau, but felt they were disrespected yesterday.

Who cares about the media?

Celtics have looked weak in the last few months so they won't receive as much coverage.

If they starting winning more playoff games we'll see more of them soon on ESPN, not that I really care about anything but winning a title this year mind you.
Celtics' turn on switch for the playoffs: the last bastion of hope for battered Celtic fans.

It's all about Miami for those schmucks at ESPN.

this is new? ESPN has constantly undervalued the C's (year 1 = no way they can gel, year 2 = no way they are any good without KG, year 3 = they're old and mediocre, year 4 = they traded their guts in Perk and have nothing left). to be fair, there's some reasonable explanation for all of that. but...ESPN is literally like the worst sports journalism (its not even that) around, so i wouldn't expect much better. its the heat, bulls, and lakers...and everybody else is not that important.
