There were a lot of situations where Rondo went after rebounds like a mad man. In many of those situations, if Rondo were not there, or didn't go after the rebound as hard as he did, we very well wouldn't have gotten those rebounds or the wind, due to the position of the players on the floor.

His rebounding performance last night was one of the unsung heroes of last night's win. Those rebounds, especially for a Celts team that has been struggling to grab rebounds, are huge.

Gotta appreciate the little things like that.

His rebounding was the only part of his game I liked last night. I respected that. But the rest of his game was garbage.

He didn't attack enough also when he did at the rim he can not finish anymore, troubling to say the least.

Not necessarily true. We are being a bit too demanding. There was no excuse for those 2 long bomb passes, especially the second one, but this guy, at a time when the Celts needed points, or couldn't score, was hitting jump shots for us, and let's not forget that drive and finish at the basket in the first half.

How, after doing things like that, can people claim the rest of his game was garbage? It wasn't perfection by any means, but Rondo's game was not garbage at all. I think too often when other elements of the team don't perform entirely as expected, as was the case in parts of the first quarter, and a nice chunk of the second, Rondo is unfairly criticized.

Rondo wasn't the only Celtics player who could not finish last night. It wasn't just him. A pretty unfair criticism, considering the guy still had one of the better finishes of the entire night with that amazing shot in the first.

Yep his rebounding was huge, it's always nice to see Rondo litterally flying all over the court to catch rebounds!

I agree with the original post.  Rondo's hustle on the boards was a big help.  His overall energy and hustle was better for this game.  Just like everyone else on the team, Rondo plays better when he is at 100% intensity on d.  Doc keeps reminding them even after all this time that it starts with the D, but I guess it is just hard to maintain that intensity all the time.  Otherwise why wouldn't you?  You saw what happened in the 2nd half.

The inbound pass to KG with 37 seconds left was garbage?

If Krstic was as agressive as BBD or Rondo or West going after rebounds. The Celtics would be unstoppable.  ::)

unfortunately Krstic can't spell rebound....so I'm signing him up to the Charles Barkley school of  "D"

He's warming back up to where he was early on in the season, which is fine since we should be able to handle the Knicks while everything gets up to speed.

I cite the fact that when he tried to dribble full speed down the court twice he lost his dribble (not resulting in turnovers though). That kind of stuff doesn't happen when you've been going full speed in games/practice and you're used to it, and it's not like Rondo recently forgot how to dribble, so I can only surmise that Rondo is remembering what it's like to go 100% full speed, and that applies to attacking the rim, too.

I was impressed with everyone's effort on the glass last night. How many times have we seen the Celtics grab 15 offensive rebounds by 7 different players. KG was very strong on the glass (13 rebounds, 5 offensive) too.

But yeah, I noticed Rondo flying through the lane for some huge boards.

His rebounding was key last night. When you have guys like Jeff Green who doesn't rebound at all, someone has to pick up the slack, and Rondo did a great job last night.

I noticed yesterday that his manic energy in keeping possessions alive was fantastic, he wouldn't quit on plays for one second. It probably shows up as nine rebounds in the box score, but that doesn't say enough about what exactly he was like out there.

I get it that some people hate the trade, and are never going to like Jeff Green on the Celtics.

But Carmelo shot 1-for-6 while Jeff Green was on the floor last night. I don't care how many rebounds Green gets or doesn't get if he's playing solid defense on the other team's primary scorer.
