Game 4 2010 Finals:

KG only played 26 minutes. Rondo 31. PP 36.

Off the bench: Baby 22. Rasheed 21. Nate 17. Tony Allen 18.

the Celtics scored 13 of 15 points during a five-minute span when Allen was the only starter on the court, mostly with Davis, Rasheed Wallace, Nate Robinson and Tony Allen. Asked if he was surprised to see his bench extend the lead, Rivers said: "I'm happy. I don't know about surprised."

you know why they asked if he was surprised?  because it doesnt ever happen.

If you remember doc also sent KG and PP to the scorers table and pulled them back like 5 times during that stretch.  Doc has no problem playing guys that have the hot hand but he will not play them to make them feel included
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

There is nothing wrong with riding your bench when they are playing well.  The problem is, the reason most of these guys are bench players and not starters is because they aren't as consistent as an All Star starter.

Last game, the bench wasn't giving them a ton, so Doc rode the starters more.  Next game, maybe West, Green, or Davis will be hot, in which case, they will get a few more minutes.

The bench is awful....but Ray Allen certainly can't be logging 40 mpg

The bench has been awful West looks useless out there. We're missing a shotmaker off the bench now that Nate is gone(though Nate wasn't making his on the way out). I'd actually like to see a bit more Wafer and less Baby. Von is capable of getting off a good shot given space and you can still use him the way we use Ray. The other guys save Baby are just being too passive out there. West was useless last game. And I don't want Baby jacking up every shot with 5 seconds to go on the clock.

How has Delonte looked "useless" out there?  Do you mean in Game 1 when he played 7 useless 2nd half minutes helping lead a 2nd half come back? I'm not sure of your post.  It seems to smell of Von Wafer love. Delonte can create his own shot but if he is in their as the point guard, he definitely tries to run plays and be a distributor.  If he is the 2guard he tends to be more aggressive scoring.  Thats also why he is in there instead of Wafer, because he can do both.

No, I'm not some big Von Wafer fan. I just acknowledge that before the kid got hurt he was beginning to buy in at the defensive end. He is an athletic finisher with range on his shot who is not afraid to put one up. West and Green(I AM a Green fan) lately are walking around with their thumbs up their rears when they get the ball. I'd like to see a little conviction from Delonte. Lately I just haven't seen it. He seems reluctant to pull the trigger. And I don't by the "he's trying to facilitate the offense bit. Lately our offense from the bench has consisted of stand around for 17 seconds and then get the ball to Big Baby. That group should run and they don't. I think they need to play with more energy and they don't. Problem is West really isn't a PG. I'd rather him pulling on 2 of every 4 catches but he won't do that and that's even when he's playing next to Rondo.

Facilitating the offense means that he needs to bring the ball up the court and start whatever play they run.  Most of the time, it eventually gets to Glen Davis and then it is a black hole.  It has NOTHING to do with Delonte West or Jeff Green or whomever.  It has to do with Glen Davis either getting plays run for him or taking too much initiative.  I really believe Doc just runs the plays for him and since they are for him, Big Baby thinks he needs to shoot it no matter the situation.  I think West played well especially defensively in the 2nd half.  During the regular season he did well overall when given the minutes, but he was always just getting into the swing of things.  I think Doc should give Delonte more of the green light and run plays for him.  The Cs offense basically is play running and when they execute its beautiful.

Conversely, this year, esp since Daniels went down and the faces on the bench changed, you can almost feel Doc's anxiety as he watches leads shrink or deficits increase as he tries to squeeze a few more seconds of rest for the starters (esp late in the 3rd qtr/early 4th qtr).

The bench has to play better for the Celts to win it this year. West, Green and Baby should be able to get it done.

"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

Very true. Just hope Wafer contributes. He can be very effective driving to the hoop and dishing
And if Shaq comes back, that bench would be an advantage over any team in the playoffs

This the reason why I always am annoyed with Doc's rotation.
Why play Big Baby all those minutes when he's not performing well??

I love Baby, but Green needs more minutes
That Jeffries play was just horrible. Even Murphy or Kristic could have played better, and they rebound better
