http://bleacherreport.com/articles/669188-2011-nba-playoff-schedule-tip-times-and-playoff-predictions/entry/65305-new-york-knicks-chauncey-billups-questionable-for-game-2-with-knee-strain

"Billups will have the knee examined Monday to determine if there is any structural damage," wrote Isola. "The timing of the injury is bad on many levels. It seems unlikely that Billups, a 2004 NBA Finals MVP, will be available for Tuesday's Game 2.

Thoughts?

sorry, i'm still thinking about how annoying it is that we won last night and there are like 12 new posts about how we suck, we got lucky and we need perkins.
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

I think there's alrady another thread about chaunceys injury, but regardless...I think he blew out his knee. I'm guessing ACL, and possibly MCL/meniscus.  That's the region of the knee that he grabbed right as he came down, and he's never been a person to get dramatic about pain.  He looked like he didn't even want to put that foot on the ground when it happend.

That sucks. He's one of the only guys on that team I don't hate. Hate to see a guy who works that hard go down.
Peace through Tyranny

idk....it hurts them from a depth perspective, but Douglas is better than Billups anyway

Billups is a better floor general/leader though

Totally agree, I've always been a Billups fan. Regardless, let's hope the team doesn't underestimate the Knicks sans Billups.

Update: " Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni described Billups as probable for Friday's Game 3"

He's a combo guard though, not someone you want at PG for the majority of your minutes. Its him or Anthony Carter at the position now.

Plus, Billups is probably the only guy on the team that can convince Carmelo that he can't carry the team. Without Billups making sure that Amare gets his touches, Carmelo is going to feel like he has free reign to jack shots up from anywhere on the court.

I do think that the Celtics best come correct on Tuesday night. Teams who lose a key player often rally and rise to the occasion. I could see Douglas stepping in and hitting some big shots.

Douglas needs to be hitting his long jump-shots to make a positive impact. This would be a big blow for New York.

Chauncey did such a great job as a leader in improving Melo's decision making and shot selection in Denver that they ended up shuttling them both out of town, even though Chauncey didn't want to leave AND has a very cap-friendly unguaranteed next season!

The Knicks' threat is that they can potentially be explosive offensively.  Billups moderates that, which is a two-edged sword.

They're a much more dangerous team with Douglas than Chauncey, IMO, though it is a question that can't really be resolved defininitively.

Douglas is a chucker. Just don't let him get hot. I'm curious to see how the Amare-Melo combo will work without Billups... He seems to be the reason that both of them get the touches they want. When he left the game Melo went into ball hog mode

I was watchin his interview after with David Alderige and i really felt bad for dude. It might have been because of nothing,  but it looked like his eyes were teared up a bit like this might be very very serious. I really feel for him cus Billups is a class act one of my favorites

Ugh. Does this mean that D'Antoni will be forced to play Landry Fields more? I was really enjoying him on the bench yesterday while 92 year old Anthony Carter tried chasing Ray Allen around.
