For those who are really stuck on this and like stats more than I do, a comparison of Perk/JO would make the most sense, and then also a comparison of the production of Jeff Green vs. Quisy this postseason as well.

actually, with our opponents the next 3 rounds(given we make it there)....dannys trade for Jeff green makes sense..as long as JO can continue to contribute well and we get shaq back for even 15mins a night

we're going to have to face 3 SF in Carmelo, Lebron, Deng whom ALL are high energy tough to guard. While he didnt have a high stat line, Green provided good defense on Carmelo allowing Pierce to rest and be fresh when it came to cruch time...I think this is the importance of having someone of his athleticism..

The only time I get mad here is when some people make it sound as if Perk stinks it up on the floor. Perk is a good player. He's not a great player but he's the kind of guy you need to have on a winning team. You can't make a team out of All Stars and it work out.

I'm done with the trade talk. I hope that Green and the new guys work things out here and help us win. I've got nothing against any of them.

I also hope that Perk finds a good home in OKC. He's on a team with some great players and he should fit in well in time. I kind of like that team so it's easy for me to pull for him. And hey, they could be the ones to kill LA.

I'd like to fly into Boston the first time he's back there playing so I could cheer for him during the intros.

That's pretty much how I feel.  I wish Green and Krstic the best.  I don't think it was a good trade, but I'm fully capable of rooting for the team even while acknowledging that.  I don't quite understand the need to tear down Perk, but I guess some find it necessary to justify their own beliefs.

Stats aside, I thought I saw a lot of really nice energy and defense from Green last night. Hopefully the rebounding will improve. Thats really the only part of his game that needs improvement.

I'm glad this dude is part of this bench.

Good luck to Perk... but its Jeff Green and Boston Celtics time! Go Cs!

I guess I'm a bit confused regarding how to reconcile "time to move on" with starting a new Perk thread comparing the pieces from the trade.

If people would like to move on, start a new thread talking about how Green's contributions extended beyond the box score or something.  However, if people don't want to talk or think about Perk...  then don't bring up Perk.

Yes, I was thinking about the Green-Daniels aspect as well.

Back to the big men though, of Perk, Mohammed, Jermaine, and Davis (the 4 that played the majority of the C minutes), did any of them stand out?  Davis had the best +/- by far.  But the point is that none of them stood out.  They are interchangeable parts.  Shaq isn't going to stand out either nor is Krstic (even though he probably did much better in his 5 minutes than Erden would have).

So unless you are still buying into the whole Perk and the identity crisis concept, there is just not much to go on.  The remaining argument in my mind is that we only scored 39 points in the first half because Perk sets so much better picks than Jermaine or Davis.  Perk only had 3 fouls so I am guessing OKC don't use him much for the pick and roll but I guess you could say that Perk helped the OKC offense because they scored 107 and we only scored 87.

Yea, I don't think this thread was a bad idea. But it could just start another "trade fight" here and it's time to move on. In the end we all like the same team.

I just wanted to compare the main pieces of the trade game to game. But state I miss and am a huge follower of his.

Perkins is not playing at 100% and his value is never in his stats.

Jeff Green is playing in a very limited role both in terms of minutes and touches.

For these playoffs, I feel reasonably confident that Jermaine, Shaq and Krstic can hold down the fort at Center.

Jeff Green can provide solid defense and scoring off the bench.

If you look at the trade, and fans hate this, it had A LOT to do with the future of the franchise. Ainge didn't like Rondo-Perkins long-term at a 40% share of the cap. I didn't either.

You also get trial period with Green with the possibility to resign for short (qualifiying offer) or small money (MLE type money, which was not even a remote possibility with Perkins.

Then you dump Robinson's dollars and add a potentially valuable first rounder.

Ainge made a gamble that J.O., Shaq and Krstic (and Jeff Green) could replace Perkins impact short term (largely because Perkins is not 100%) while strengthening the team long-term.

Regardless of how it turns out in these playoffs, I can live with the move.

Right.  I'm not saying that a thread like this couldn't be interesting or anything like that, or that it doesn't belong here.  However, if people really want to move on from the trade, then comparing the production of the trade components game by game sounds like a poor way to achieve that goal.  It just shifts the focus after every contest from the play of the Celtics, to the play of the Celtics in relation to Perk.
