"If I can think about every shot that I've hit to win a game in a Celtics uniform, Paul's probably the guy that's passed it to me."

That's a very interesting choice of words.  I'm becoming more certain that there is a friction between Rondo and Ray.

TP

That is very interesting. Ray and I are both sick of Rondo (those two late 4Q passes = UGH). Paul's a great passer!

I don't think this is any indication of a Rondo/Ray rift.

Paul usually has the ball at the end, and passes to ray on the pick/pop or when Ray's man leaves him to double Paul.

No big deal.

Since Paul is often doing ISO's to close out games it's obvious that the passes would come from him. Though I remember some very good ones from Rondo and the previous one against Chicago and Miami, some of the few times when I can actually praise Rondo's timing and accuracy of this passes.

Yup, and it's likely the question was about the pass.  But most of Ray's big shots as a C have come off a Pierce iso.

Or perhaps its usually going to be either Pierce or Allen taking the big shot at the end. So either Pierce takes the shot to win or he's covered and needs to pass it...to Allen.

Dude thats quite a reach.  I interpret that as Ray saying Paul doesnt play hero ball like Carmelo.

If you had posted a quote about Ray hitting a game-winner after a loss I'd be worried about Ray's mental health  :P

This is a compliment to Pierce not a knock or riff towards Rondo... Pierce is gonna have the ball in his hands during the last possession. It just shows that he is clutch shooting at the last second, and also making the right decision to find the right pass at the last seconds.

compliment to pierce more then knock on rondo

pierce has the ball in end of game situations because he has all 3 things u need, shot, playmaking and driving

rondo doesnt have the shot for him to warrant having the ball at the end of game situations

it works well with pierce and allen , usually drawn to perfection by doc

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
am I really reading people attempting to fault Rajon Rondos passing ability?

Ray's quote is directed at Paul's unselfishness particularly when the opposing team thought he would be the one taking the shot.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
