Any news on if he tore anything?

It would be a big loss for NY, though Douglas probably matches up better with Rondo

Hope not. Nothing against him.

They said a strained knee on the broadcast - haven't heard anything beyond that.  Strained knee could be anything from back for Game 2 to out for a month.  But I think it's likely he'll miss some time.

I'm 100% OK with any injury any other team sustains.  After Garnett in '09 and Perk last year, I feel like we're owed one.

Not wishing it on anyone; however, I wouldn't feel like we're getting by anyone cheaply, especially with Shaq out.

if Billups misses any time and the C's win, the comments will come out that we won against a diminished Knicks team.  I would prefer every team we play to be at full strength so there'll be no excuses when we beat the other teams.  of course I want Shaq back to so we could be at full strength for the first time.

Perhaps.  But I'll just count it as payback for the Lakers winning two titles that should've been ours with KG and Perk out respectively.

Perception is great but winning is better.  If Gasol blows out his knee instead of Perk, we get the banner and the Lakers get an even better excuse than we do.  I'd still rather have it that way.  I don't root for injuries, but if they happen and they help us win, I'm totally fine with it.

Ugh, I don't wish injuries to anyone, but those happen all the time. I hate it's Billups, when there's a lot of unbearable idiots out there. I like Billups, and hope there's nothing severe.

Of course, some poetic justice would be welcome, but not on Chauncey. You know who I'm thinking about.

I want all the teams healthy. If 100% healthy, no team is better than us. Go Celtics!!!

don't get me wrong, if Gasol blew out his knee and we won last year, I certainly wouldn't be offering LA the title because we didn't beat them at full strength.  I'd be happy with the title as I was in 2008 when LA whined about Bynum (he wouldn't have made the difference that they claim).  I would be a tad disappointed that we didn't beat them a full strength so they'd have no excuses for losing.

while i understand your sentiments, i dont think too many people - aside from die hard knick fans gulping gallons of koolaid- really think that billips would have the knicks ousting the celtics in this series.

most folks know the celtics are the better team and billips is not going to overcome that difference in talent over a seven game series.

on a personal note, i never, ever regret having he celtics beat a team that is not 100% healthy. the celtics havent had a healthy playoff team the past two years. it is what it is and every team has to deal with injuries.... look at shaq, JO, and krstic for the celtics now.

go celtics!

If Billups is able to play but is hobbled, Rondo will destroy him. You can't defend Rondo with compromised lateral movement.

Not me. Anything that shortens our first round series or any series in our favor can't help but help us in the long run for 18.

Chauncey is a class act, but no tears for him if it helps the Cs. And who cares about what anyone thinks of us. They don't think we have a  shot anyway!

@NBAonESPN Chauncey Billups has a strain in knee/quad area. Says he hopes to return "as soon as possible" but really "has no clue." Day to day.

Agreed on the first part. It is a first round series against a mediocre team. Who cares if they are missing a player, so long as the series ends quickly.

I disagree with the 'They don't think we have a  shot anyway!' comment. Not true. Most commentators think we have a shot. Many have us winning the East.

Billups being out actually helps the Knicks.

I am more fearful of leaving Douglas wide open than Chauncey.
