Hard to read through the smoke-screen of comments coming from Ainge and co.  Is there really any chance?  Or done?  In those precious few minutes he played the other week, he looked OK, moved well.  If we got 15 mins of that a night, and not even every night from round 2 onward, boy would that help.

If not, got to go with what we got.  I keep wondering if Murphy has anything left as the 5th big, and possible rotation player.  Granted he hasn't looked good, but in those last 2 semi-exhibition games, he moved better I thought.  He can be a spot-type player, depending on match-ups, that could help.

Trying to think of reasons to keep the faith...

You guys forget that besides JO, we still have Krstic and Murphy for the Center positions - two players who would probably be the first or second players off the bench for the Bulls and Heat.

I agree about Miami, but Chicago? Asik, Gibson and Kurt Thomas are better than any of them.

I don't think so.

Not so sure about the Bulls. And what do we care about that? It's still not better then what the West has to throw against us. I don't care about getting out of the east if we can't win it all.

If we can't win it all then I don't care if we get out of the first round.

If/when the C's meet the Heat in round#2,its a big possibility they will have Haslem for that series according to some sources closer to the Heat franchise...if this is true Shaq's presence in the middle becomes even more important.

Quote from Gary Washburn's Globe article this AM: The Celtics have no idea when O’Neal will return to the court because yesterday he failed miserably in his first attempt to practice since January. O’Neal merely tried to run on his ailing right leg and pulled up lame. The pain was too great. And now the Perkins trade looks even more ominous and questionable than before.

He's not coming back...at all I don't believe.  One of the thing's Mike Lombardi on NFL.com always says about management is teams's need to evaluate their own talent properly and know what they have.

I think that's where Danny goofed. 300 pounders over age 34 are questionable for the remainder of their careers.

Ugh.

Is this the calf or the Achilles? One days it's the former, the next day it's the latter. I don't know. The Achilles was a known problem before the trade. And from all accounts, there is no set timetable for healing.

If it is the calf, we saw how long KG missed (about 3 weeks) and he is much lighter, younger, and in better shape. Someone even younger and lighter, Wafer, missed 4 weeks. He injured himself 2 weeks ago today. I understand their are different grades of strains, but if the calf is what's bothering him most - to the point that he can't run on it - then I don't expect him back relatively soon.

It is beginning to get strange (a la 2009 with KG). I heard McKeon say he suffered no setbacks, yet he can't run on it now? How exactly was he improving everyday like the team doctor said?

It seems like they (Ainge, Doc, McKeon, Lacerte, Shaq) aren't on the same page.

well see shaq back in the playoffs...no way the guy doesnt go out there even in Pain...this is his last chance to fight for a championship.

in the meantime, we have a healthy JO thankfully to clog up the middle, block shots and provide solid defense. we were always facing the possibility of being without one O'neal in part of the playoffs..I just doubt anyone thought JO would be the healthy one..

The latest update on him is not optimistic at all. His heart might be willing....but his body may not. He is 39..weighs around 350 lbs...and has logged in serious career minutes.

That thought is in the back of my mind too, BFM....at this point, if it would help - I'd rather Boston try to go as far as they can and not even look for Shaq until our Lakers series in June.

I feel confident that JO/KG/Glen/Nenad/Some JG/Murph can get the job done.

That line up should do a fine job against the Knicks...its the second round match up that worries me. JO can't punish LeBron and Wade when they drive to the hoop....not like Shaq at least.
