Rondo is the Problem

One of the mantra's of the media and fans last year was, how Rondo goes, how go the celtics.  This is still incredibly true this year. 

Going into the 3rd quarter last night Rondo had no points and 2 assists.  Gary Washburn said Rondo looked terrified to even attempt a layup with a defender nearby. 

I love Rondo as much as the next guy but he is not getting it done right now.  He is our guy and we have to hope that he can turn it around.  If not I think it will be a pretty quick exit in the second round.

It seems crazy to say it, but Rondo has looked bad lately. Anyone looked at the data closely? Has his fall-off since the Perkins trade been that severe?

I'm legitimately shocked logging into Celticsblog that he hasn't taken more of the blame. Our all star point guard put up that game against Mike Bibby & The Heat after requesting a one on one w/ Doc assumably to express his frustrations w/ the team?

Rondo is playing like he wants to be traded.  Probably should have traded him with Perk and brought back Westbrook (Yeah, I know OKC probably wouldn't do it). :-\

If he continues this way through the playoffs, I wonder if Danny will look to trade him.

Im glad that I am not the only one that thought this wasnt talked about as much as it should be on here.

We obviously need him in every game, but especially against the Heat. That's a matchup he should be drooling over.

I don't mean to say its not being discussed - just that I thought we'd have 3 twelve page 'what is wrong w/ rondo' threads by 9am and it seems to be more of the same.

Rondo's play certainly didn't help, but it doesn't bode well for us if, as a team, we only pull down 26 rebounds in an entire game...

I think you're right.  I also have little doubt that he's going to turn in on in the playoffs, but I can't help but think the team's recent struggles are a result of some kind of serious break either between rondo and the rest of the team, or rondo and pierce/KG, etc... I dunno Doc sounded so calm and reassuring last year when they were losing, and he really just looks and sounds like he doesn't know what to do with this team right now.

Maybe there's just a desire to put blame elsewise, and the rebounding is an issue, but if you're going to look into the stat line how can you look at Rondo's numbers, remember that the Heat's starting PG and answer "well, they didn't help"?

Don't get me wrong, I'm often chastised on here as too much of a detractor of Rondo, but I was disappointed in a lot more than just his play yesterday.

Well, if he's going to be that frail mentally, we're rapidly approaching the point where if a trade for Chris Paul is available, the Celtics should be all over it.
