Yes he's 35 yrs old but still needs to learn. We know one thing, coming off the pick for a catch and shoot ain't working and still it's our default offensive play. Ray needs to create his own baskets bec. honestly, he's decaying the way it is now.

Anyone says Perk did nothing for our offense... take a look at Ray running through screens now. He can't get free. Looks like he misses those big solid screens.

The rest of our offense is feeling the sting too.

Ray Allen was an excellent shot-creator when he was younger but he is no longer capable of that. He just doesn't have the athleticism, the explosiveness, to consistently get by his man ... not against quality defenders / defensive teams.

He is reliant on his teammates to help him get high percentage shot attempts. No other way to it.

It's really distressing that a 35-year old, 14-year veteran, starting shooting guard doesn't know what to do with the ball other than dribble around at the 3-point line... especially if he's on your team!

It has nothing to do with "learning"

Ray used to be NASTY at taking defenders off the dribble.  After his injury in Seattle he was never quite the same in that regard.

Ray is the same player we've known him to be.  It's unreasonable to expect him to grow as a player at this stage in his career

TPs for who and Marcus.

Ray just doesn't have the athleticism for that sort of thing anymore, that's what happens with older players.

I do think Perk was a good screener but having Shaq back will help. I mean With shaq starting this season we played outstanding so I think he will be better when the big fella gets back.

Exactly Shaq is going to help all of the starting 5's game, especially Ray and Rondo.

Very true. I haven't looked at it that way.

I love Ray, but he can't create his own any more.  He's basically just a spot-up shooter and a guy trying to run curls off screens, but really aside from open shots, his game has deteriorated significantly.

This might be the last run...

Rays only SOLID 1 on 1 move is his behind the back. When he drives right/left then puts up behind the back to create space for a J & even that isnt working :(

It'd be nice to have someone setting screens that is also a threat in the paint, they're jumping Ray and denying the ball. When Shaq was in there he could just roll to the hoop for easy baskets.

It's late in the season and nobody is willing to set screens properly, they can't bring themselves to try on the glass, and as it was said last night on CSNNE it's almost like they find that doing these things are beneath them until the playoffs start.

Rondo doesn't want to cut, is going in slow motion, and doesn't care enough to try on defense.

Ray Allen is blowing easy baskets and struggling defensively

Pierce is settleing for three pointers and not attacking the hoop until it's too late

KG is too passive offensively

Davis is Antoine Walker except at least when Walker hit one it was worth 3 points, AND he was a good rebounder. Plus he doesn't want to sacrifice his body for charges.

Krstic is soft.

Jermaine O'Neal is a shadow of his former self but should still put up better numbers, he will be a contributor but it just isn't happening right now. The passes Ray and Rondo and throwing him aren't doing him any favors.

I have no beefs with Delonte, he is what he is.

Jeff Green needs to rebound more BUT this team has to try harder to get him involved offensively, #8 has an advantage in the post on just about every play... yet they just have him camped out at the three point line.

Troy Murphy is a huge disappointment.

Carlos Arroyo is straight up bad.

This team is struggling because they don't care enough to compete, it has nothing to do with who's here and who isn't (just like it didn't last year) The Boston Celtics have become the Pistons from earlier in the decade and it's not even Rasheed Wallace's fault. The funny part about all this is that it's not even the old guys that are doing the most negative damage, it's the young guys like Rondo and Davis.

Boston will pick it up in the postseason and have a nice run, but i'm starting to question my allegiance to the young players that are the core of this team moving forward. Love good Rondo more than anything, but the dislike i have for bad Rondo is FAR worse.

I'd like to see him get in the post a little more.  His post up game in Seattle and Milwaukee used to be very good, I havn't seen much of it here.
do it

He's 35 years old.

He ain't going to learn to be any more creative than he is now.

I'd like to see him get in the post a little more.  His post up game in Seattle and Milwaukee used to be very good, I havn't seen much of it here.

That opportunity is gone.  With Shaq coming back and Jermaine (in theory) getting most of the minutes, there will be little opportunity for guards to post up.

The big problem is that Ray DOES know how to create his own shots. He has done it consistently this entire season. He has done it far less than he has come off curls or been fed passes, but he has done it effectively on multiple occasions, but he just seems so reluctant to do it more often, and it's really hurting the team that he isn't being more assertive.

35 is not too old to create your own shot. This man is one of the best conditioned players in the entire darn league.
