An idea occurred to me after the Chicago loss: these guys are playing head games. It was strengthened by the Miami blowout loss I predicted.

The Celtics could've went into both Chicago and Miami and obliterated them, but it would've only made them hungrier and more difficult to beat in the playoffs. It would've made them play up,
whereas now, they've lulled them into a false sense of security.

Both teams think they can beat us now, because they think we're slipping. This is why Boston now has the mental advantage.  Winning makes a team comfortable, and you cannot win when you are comfortable.

The Bulls and the Heat will go into the playoffs thinking they can beat the Celtics, and that is what will make them lose.

Your hypothesis sounds a little more WWE than NBA, but I give you credit for the thinking.

Yeah and Shaq is pretending to be injured this whole time.

I'd be mighty impressed if the NBA pulled that all off so perfectly lol.  :P

It is an admittedly farfetched idea aside from being a huge reach, but it's not out of the realm of impossibility. These guys handily defeat the Sixers one day and then don't show for the biggest game of the season?  Rondo lights up for 20 and 14 the next day but can't be bothered to play two days later against another important opponent?

I was thinking the same thing after Chicago, especially with Rondo letting Rose do what he wants (glass half full).

But I don't see the advantage in giving Miami hope. If we went out there and smashed them yet again they would feel helpless against us. We would've been in the heads. With them beating us like they did, now they have some confidence against us.

Chicago I (kind of) get, Miami I don't - especially with HCA up for grabs. Either way, letting opponents win is never a good idea IMO. I get the "lose the battle to win the war" sentiment, but still.

Why would the Celtics want the Bulls and Heat going into the playoffs thinking they can beat them?  Makes zero sense.  You're acting as if Boston can do whatever they want and the other teams will submit.  Face it....Danny didn't truly get what the starting five was all about but he is probably getting an idea nowadays.
