2011 NBA Draft, 6/24/11

I am not sure if this is in the right place, so please feel free to move it.  I was wondering why any college player would leave school early  to enter the draft this year, considering that, with the looming lockout, there may not be a season next year.  Wouldn't that mean the player would miss a year of NBA, a year of college ball, and not get paid at all?  If a player is drafted, can he still be eligible to play college ball if he has never played in the NBA?  Would a lockout make any rookie contract signed null and void?  This may be a dumb question, don't laugh....I really can't control my wandering mind.

They wouldn't get paid for the first year of their contract. But they would also get to free agency quicker. And if they all hold back from entering for a year, they could drop from a #10 pick to a #20 pick, and then loose all that cash in in the 2012-13 season due to the lower salary slot.

So if you are a hot name right now and you are possibly going to go higher than you should, you might as well enter. Its the smart financial move.

Also instead of playing for another year and risking injury, in the event of a lockout you'll just spend that time in attack athletics injury free with Tim Grover.

Unless you're carlos boozer or vlad rad...those guys will probably break their hands while opening a jar of pickles or something.
