Amen and thank you
I don't really agree with your premise that it was unacceptable for him to regress during last year. His knee was hurting, that really effected his level of play on both ends. It also certainly effected his offensive confidence.

I'm hopeful he can get both back when he's healthy again.

So..how many players have now said something similar about this trade? Kobe, Rose, Noah...anybody else?

As much as anything I think its a way for them to gain their own mental edge against the C's at this point.

Why didn't Rose tell us that they didn't think they could beat us when we had Perk?? I'm sure Danny would have listened to them

Might be a few more added to the list on Sunday, we'll see. We lost an enforcer in Perk but we still have one more.

BarefacedMonk - Welcome Back :). Haven't seen you around in a few days.

As for your last post - with the exception of maybe about a week or so ago, I think Roy is well-respected around here. There was a thread last week that kind of got sidetracked and turned disrespectful towards Roy that I was involved in to a certain extent. I apologized to Roy for my part in it and moved on.

What I didn't apologize for is my stance on The Trade. While I hated it then, I am still of the mindset that Boston can still bring home title 18 this year.

I like what Nenad and JG bring to this team. I can also see what left when Perk was traded.

But even with that I think it is fallacy to listen to CHI's upstarts and base our season off of last night.

And yes - DRose and Noah are in fact - upstarts. I liked DRose and was rooting for him to win MVP, up until now. He is almost starting to take on an arrogant air about him with these comments.

Note to DRose - you make these kind of comments after you have dispatched your opponent - for good. Not in April.

I do have Hope in this team, even after last night.

The folly is in not thinking for oneself. I still see potential in this trade working out for both teams, and have not wavered on that mindset.

Ya see, the funny thing is I think this talk that we're suddenly "not tough" just because Perkins isn't on the roster now is silly.  "Tough" has a lot of depth to it, and more often than not it wasn't physical toughness that made the Celtics great the last few years (although it of course helped,)  it was mental toughness that carried the team to victory in the most difficult situations.

Our starting line-up is still made up of players with considerable mental toughness, and they shouldn't be counted out.

Have we looked softer on the inside without Perk?  Yes, there's no denying that.  But we're also trotting out a Center combo of Nenad (definitely not a shot blocker/strong defensive rebounder) and Baby (who gives us no interior length) for the majority of our minutes at that spot.  In the playoffs those minutes go to Shaq, one of the most physically domineering players in the league, and Jermaine, who only played 17 minutes last night.

TP. Everything you said is right on.
I can't figure out how we can forget about who we have had playing center the last few weeks. Perkins or no Perkins, it has always been about Shaq and JO's health. Without those two it doesn't matter if we had Perk or not.

All this expecting the worse needs to be tempered. As I have said in another thread, go to Vegas and lay the money down if your so sure we suck now and have no hope.

Have a bleak outlook, that's fine, but don't present it as fact

In my eyes the Celtics brought this on themselves.

All you ever heard from the end of last year to the start of this year is "If we had Perk..."!

Our team said it.  Analyst said it.  Players on other teams were also saying it.

Well guess what we don't have Perk now.  And since we don't this is how other teams react.

Only way we can stop it...is just like @ the start of this year win without him!

What's new?

Those who like this trade will still defend it...no matter what. A week or two ago, we had posts reminding us to wait and judge the team based on our performance against CHI and MIA. Well, CHI outplayed us...so now we are asked to wait until the playoffs begin...not much is going to change. Chemistry and cohesiveness of this team is gone...shipped to OKC.

Perkins was not an all star or the second coming of Bill Russell but he was a important member of this team. Hustle, chemistry, cohesion, the rapport players share in the locker room...those things will never show up on any stat sheet...but they are critical to a team's success. We had a wonderful training camp in 2007 where the team came together and bonded...if chemistry is overrated, why did the team shell out all that money to spend time in Rome?

I've watched Roy make sensible, reasonable posts on this topic a few times..only to be scoffed at, called a "hater" etc...and I expect the same kind or response to this post as well. I sincerely hope that people like me who are not enamoured by Danny's "high way robbery" act are proven wrong come playoffs...but it's not looking good for us. Not one bit.

Here's a slice of cake, and here's a fork so you can eat it, too.

Those who don't like the trade aren't changing their minds, either.  I dislike your tone. You seem to be implying that those who agree with you and Roy Hobbs are simply being reasonable and those who disagree are ignorant boobs.

Celtics18 - Please, Man...this trade will certainly have two opposing sides, but BFM was just stating his position on it.

No need for the tone, my friend. We can assume that both Roy and BFM as well as others on here are firmly against the trade, but we can all be cordial about it. :)
