Anyone have a recommendation for a good white tequila. Nothing too expensive (i.e. Patron). Also any good margarita recipe's as well would be awesome

I go with the 1800 - not sure if it'd be a little out of your price range or not.  Jose is the middle-of-the-road tequilla for me but and it comes in clear...but Im just not a fan of it anymore

TP's

I'm not sure if I've had it before. Doesn't seem too pricey. I just want a good tequila I can buy without spending a ton of cash.

On another note have you guys had Coffee (or cafe?) Patron? Awesome

Stick with Patron

yup

and for a nice sippin' cordial try Patron Cafe.  A really odd combo of tequila and coffee, but it works.

I used to surf Baja California and the best tequila is the home brewed ones that the locals bring out to get drunk with us. If I were still there, I could have gotten you a bottle.

1800 or Patron if you are doing shots.

Just about anything if you are making margaritas. I wouldn't waste a good tequila in a margarita mix.

Check 2 posts above yours

Good chilled shots and if you have a good bartender you can have a "baby guiness" with bailey's topping the patron

I want to get a really good and fresh Margarita recipe. Plus I usually make stiffer drinks. I probably should get both and really see if it makes that much of a difference

The best tequila I've ever tried was homemade, and was super mellow and kinda fruity. It was like tropical really good brandy..if that makes sense.

Kind of like asking about scotch. I think it's a matter of personal taste. Some like bleands, some like single malt, etc.
I like Patron. I know it's pricy, but I don't really drink much, so if I'm going to get some, I'm sipping and enjoying, I get what I like.
As was said earlier, if you're using it to make margaritas, than pretty much any tequila will work, so don't waste your money. Might as well get Jose or even store brand.

Good suggestion.
Your second point holds true for just about every mixed drink, IMO.

Here are my favorites (In Order):

Don Julio
Cabo Wabo
Tres Generations (cheapest of the 4)
Patron

Good mix to start with, refine as needed:

4 parts Sweet N' Sour Mix
3 Parts Tequila
2 Parts Triple Sec
dash of Grand Marnier if you have some (very expensive)

It's gonna be really strong, but you said you like em' stiff.

Shake over ice, enjoy!

I always use the best tequila in margiritas...it's worth it.  Now if you doing flavored margiritas then the flavoring usually covers alot of the tequila flavor, then using the cheapest doesn't effect the drink much.  my 2 cents.
