With the limited minutes that JO and Shaq will be providing, there will have to be more than an eight-man rotation.

its a shame we have no room for Arroyo, i thought he played solid basketball whenever he was given a chance.

  • Rondo = Good
If all healthy:

Shaq starts.

Bench -

JO
Davis
West
Green
Krstic (minutes depend on matchups)

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I say yes.  Bench= Green, Delonte, Baby, JO, and Kristich.

Maybe Kristich doesn't get regular minutes, but I bet he does at around 10-15mins a game.
"Kristich" will definitely get no minutes for the Celtics, given we don't have a player with that name on the roster.
what's the point of that comment?

anyway, yes, I think there will be a 10 man rotation.
bench mob=JO,Krstic,BBD, West, Green.

Real nasty bench!
The point of that comment is that it's annoying when fans can't spell the names of players on the very team they're rooting for. It's even kind of sad, really.

As for the bench, don't expect more than a nine man rotation. In case both O'Neals are ready to go, Krstic will be limited to spot minutes.

sorry, Krstic will be getting much more than 'spot' minutes.
He's a crucial part of the second rotation and spreading the floor with Green and Rondo on at the same time. He gets up and down extremely quick and they'll put him in a lot with Rondo.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I think you're looking at an 8 man rotation if everyones healthy. Here's how I see it going:

Shaq (15) / Jermaine (20) / (Big Baby 13)
KG (35) / Big Baby (7) / Jeff Green (6)
Pierce (35)/Green (13)
Ray (35) / Delonte (13)
Rondo (40) / Delonte (8 )

EDIT: I'd love to see those Shaq and Jermaine Numbers Flip, but I think even 15 minutes of Shaq is optimistic

I thoroughly disagree. He hits open jumpers, and that's kinda it. He's easily the worst defender I've seen wearing green in quite some time.

As an actual rotation this is what I see

PG - Rondo 40, West 8
SG - Allen 36, West 12
SF - Pierce 36, Green 12
PF - Garnett 34, Davis 10, Green 4
C - S. O'Neal 24, J. O'Neal 20, Davis 4

I expect Krstic will play about 5 minutes most games, though wouldn't call him a regular rotation player.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

Doc addressed this question the other day:

Quote
“As far as the (playoff rotation), I know it. It’s set. But we’ve just got to get it together. “That’s not going to happen until (everyone’s available). We’ll do it through practices. We’ll be ready. I know it. I just haven’t seen it. And that’s fine.” Rivers indicated the rotation would be last night’s starting five with Shaquille O’Neal (if healthy) in place of Jermaine O’Neal in the starting lineup. Then it would be Jermaine O’Neal, Nenad Krstic, Glen Davis, Jeff Green and Delonte West coming off the bench.

But I don't want Krstic to play  :'(

I think they'll use Kristic, but very sparingly when rotating out their big men. The way Doc does rotations and with Shaq's limitations, I think Doc will use an extra big man in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

Yes there is a way to avoid this given the positional flexibility of BBD, Green, West - No I don't expect Doc to start doing it now. So I'd guess Kristic at about 5 minutes, unless fouls or injuries require more.

I think Shaq will start because its easier to manage him that way, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him at less than 20 MPG, say 15 MPG.

In last year's playoffs Rondo, Pierce, and Allen played 40.3, 38.9, and 38.5 MPG respectively. The bench is VASTLY improved with West and Green taking the place of Tony Allen (16.3 MPG) and Nate Robinson (7.5 MPG), and whatever poopoo platter picked up the remaining couple minutes at the wings. So I think Doc tempers their minutes a bit as their effectiveness seemed pretty bad by the end of the LA series and he has high quality bench this year.

Let's guess Pierce and Ray @ 36 MPG and Rondo @ 38 MPG.

I'd say he gets West 20 MPG behind Rondo and Ray. Green picks up the rest of the wing minutes that's 14.

KG was at 33 MPG last year, I'm going to say he stays there, that leaves Green another 6 MPG at PF, and the rest to BBD at 9 MPG.

With Shaq and JO at 35 MPG, BBD could pick up the rest of the C minutes 13 MPG, but I think JO gets a few.

So final tallies:

Starters:
Rondo 39 MPG
Ray 36 MPG
Pierce 36 MPG
KG 33 MPG
Shaq 15 MPG

Bench:
West 20 MPG
Green 20 MPG
JO 20 MPG
BBD 18 MPG
Kristic 3 MPG

Tommy Point for anyone who can map these minutes to what the lineup changes would look like.

This all sounds good on paper and I agree.

However we all know Doc.

He is going to put the starters out there ASAP if the 2nd unit is not getting it done.  We just have to hope the 2nd unit can play well the entire playoffs.

I know a lot of people don't like Krstic but he definitely adds a lot of energy and very good offensive rebounding. I think throwing out someone like that for 10 a game in the playoffs or so could be pretty valuable. He is not as good as Baby on defense obviously but I think he has been playing with more energy offensively and is better offensive rebounder than Baby. At this point I'd probably take his jumper and finishing at the rim over Baby as well

Speaking for myself, it's not that I dislike Krstic that much - it's more that I'd like to see Green & Baby both play around 20 minutes a night. There's just not enough minutes available for him.

Can you change people from your active roster and inactive list in between rounds?  If Shaq and Jermaine are healthy, I think I'd want Bradley, Murphy and Pavlovic inactive with Wafer and Arroyo being 11 and 12.  I think we will need that extra back court depth incase Rondo or Allen get into foul trouble.
do it

Yes.  In fact, you can change active / inactive in between games; I believe the rule is that your roster for each game needs to be set one hour before tip off.
