Pierce isn't a flopper, he's a flailer.  Different things.  Flopping is usually on defense and flailing on offense, for one.  Flopping involves hitting the floor and flailing usually doesn't, for another.

I am a bit surprised at no Baby, though - you don't lead the league in charges without flopping quite a bit.  He probably needs more time to establish himself as an elite flopper.

Right, that's so much better :)

I think Bosh should crack the top 10 based on his flop of the millennium earlier this season.

Bosh is cutting back on his flopping. A guy could get hurt falling down like that.

So, it looks like flopping is not exclusively a Euro thing, not by a mile  ;)

Half these guys are foreign... and predominately central/south american

So I've noticed. But no Euros in there.

I'll tell you this: If our winning basket in a deciding NBA Finals game was the result of flopping on behalf of one of our players? Not one single poster here wouldn't take that basket.

Fisher should be number one you can't even touch him in the slightest w/ your body, without him acting like he was shot.

Right, that's so much better :)

Never said it was better, just said it was different, hence Pierce didn't make the flopper list.

The fact that Glen Davis and Nick Collison aren't on this list surprises me.
Davis for mastering getting perfect postition to draw charges?  The guy takes a real beating.  Knees to the testicles, elbows to the head.  Flopping is faking it, I don't see Davis fake it at all.

Glen Davis is nearly 300 lbs and is built like a brick house. If his feet are set, and his body is prepared, there are maybe 2 or 3 guys in the NBA that can put him to the ground just by running into him.

I'm not denying that taking charges is tough work, and he earns every bit of the credit he deserves, but he goes down because he allows himself to fall, not because those charges are so jarring.

That is proper technique though.  He wouldn't get nearly the amount of correct calls if he made the other guy go to the floor and he stood there.  I think of floppers as people who make something out of nothing.  Davis is a little more legit- he's making something out of something.

Eh, if you're leading the league in charges...you're making something outta nothing on a regular basis. Is he still leading the league in charges taken?

I think Grant Hill passed him a couple weeks ago.

Derek Fisher should be numer one, this guy is the worst flopper of the league because he basically flops on everything (screens, falls, shots...) and always gets rewarded for it. I still have in mind his Finals flops... makes me want to puke. :-X

Agreed. Fisher is the worst.

I think the reason Davis hits the floor so much is because he's standing with both feet below his shoulders.  I'm sure he'd stand up much better if he could lean back on one leg, but that would look like a block to refs.

A flailer just sounds like a lazy flopper to me. If you're gonna put on an act, put some enthusiasm into it.  I was expecting to see Pierce higher on the list.

Same basic concept for floppers, soccer based sports cultures.

Rondo has been pretty good at flailing this year to draw fouls. He doesn't have enough of a resume yet to get on this list, but I could see him building one if he keeps it up.
