I have never ever seen a thread like this but I thought It might be a good idea.

This is a thread for fans of the celtics who need to apologize.   Maybe its to a specific celtic player, or maybe an owner, or maybe the coach doc rivers.  Sometimes as fans we shamelessly bash players/coaches like they don't ever turn a computer on, type in celticsblog, and read what is being said about their performance in the celticsblog Forums.

I will go first because I am especially guilty.  I really didn't become a die hard celtics fan until the team went on an 18 game losing streak in 2007 i think.  I watched every quarter, every minute, and every second of those games and cheered for delonte west the whole time as hard as I could.  In my opinion that experience turns me at least closer to a die hard celtics fan vs. a casual fan.
Any ways, something funny happened after the Celtics won the championship.  I all of a sudden developed a bias against Glen Davis.  I felt he shouldn't be a celtic.  I felt he wasn't tall enough, i felt his shot was bad, i felt Leon Powe was 5million times better, i felt glen was out of shape.  All of a sudden I started posting on the celticsblog forums like this guy wasn't even a human.  A large portion of my posts were all attacking glen davis' game.  Even if he had a good game, I would find something negative to say.

Coming on to celticsblog and bashing glen davis and his game has been something I've enjoyed doing as a fan for about 3 years.  Just because I enjoy doing it doesn't mean its right.
Just because he earns millions of dollars more than me per year does not mean he doesn't have feelings.

So I'm sorry Glen Davis.  Ben says he is sorry, and he is going to try to respect your hard work and effort that you offer to the celtics every game you play.

I really enjoy watching this years team play.  I some how managed to get tickets to tomarrow nights game and I am going to cheer as hard as i can for Davis if he is on the court simply because he is wearing a green uniform.  I am going to try to put my personal bias aside, and respect the game a little bit more than i have in the past.

So that felt really good.  Anyone else need to apologize?

nope...
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

I once used Lucky's name blasphemously when Larry Bird missed two free throws at the end of a Sixers game.  I double cursed Lucky's green soul when Dr. J proceeded to hit a game winning 3 moments later.  I feel much better having admitted this and my remorse is lifted.
Yup

I like the effort but I really (no, really) don't think what we talk about here has an actual bearing on how such-and-such player performs on any given night. If it did, I'd say that said player didn't belong in the NBA.

Also, do you realize that now you can't chide BBD again, ever?  Except maybe if he misses a Finals game 7 dying seconds 25-foot trey with the Celts down by a bucket   ;)

I'm sorry I didn't bash Rasheed even more.  He deserved more.

I'm not sure i realize the repercussions of this post lol.  Chiding BBD really is my favorite thing to do as a Celtics Fan.  What will i do now???

By the way, I read somewhere (can't find link) that celtics players read celticsblog all the time.  It might have been in a Mike Gorman interview where I heard it.

Chide someone else, perhaps?  ;) If we still had TA, you could always pick on him. Wait... That almost calls for a "Bring back Tony Allen" thread but I'm sure that somewhere, someone else is working on that.

Can I pick on O'Brien and Walker still?  There is no chance of them coming back, is there?  ???
Yesterday is history.

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
Im sure neither BBD nor any other Celtic player gives a hoot about what is written here; that is, assuming they come in here, however infrequently
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine
