With Troy Murphy getting through a practice,  and expecting to be in uniform tomorrow.  What does he bring to the table for us ? Is there a role for him available besides end of bench warmer.
I know his skill set and was excited when he became a Celtic,  but has his injurys and subpar play closed the door on him contributing this year.

I only see him as one more big body for insurance.

He's not big enough to have much of an impact at center, and then between KG, Davis and Green, there's probably no time for him at the 4.

As insurance, he can hopefully still shoot and rebound. And based on how the center injuries have gone this season, thats at least something.

He was averaging 3 points a game BEFORE we even got him this year. That dude is bringing NOTHING to the table, and I kind of laughed when people thought bringing him in was a big deal... it's a shame that we ditched Semih to make room for that useless waste of space.

For that matter, I expect JO to contribute virtually nothing during the playoffs as well. He's got an injured heart, and you can't repair that.

What should be my new signature: Shaq for 30+ minutes a game or we don't win a championship. Thanks for placing our championship hopes on Shaq's decrepit legs, Danny.

A well conditioned and focused Troy Murphy can spread the floor and be a pretty effective rebounder for us.

I just don't think right now he is that physically fit as he could be.

He's like Sheed was before in the regular season.

With the injuries to Nenad and Shaq he may get some run down the stretch.  My guess from watching him play so far though is that he may be too rusty to contribute anything solid this year.

That dude is bringing NOTHING to the table, and I kind of laughed when people thought bringing him in was a big deal... it's a shame that we ditched Semih to make room for that useless waste of space.

Even at the level he has played, he's probably still the team's second-best rebounding big, behind KG, and he brings height that Glen Davis lacks.  Unfortunately, he has no defense and his three-point shot has disappeared.

Murphy is a solid player.  Nothing spectacular, but he IS solid.  I'm surprised people wrote him off after a handful of games in which he barely played, and was coming off being benched for most of the season.

  • KG IS THE KING
We need toughness. The last thing we need is another soft big. I am sorry Troy, I appreciate your (pre-Boston) skills, but you are not what we need.

Some depth is nice though.

I don't believe this... Troy needs all the support he could get while he's with us... He would definitely need our encouragement... I'm still optimistic he'll help us out...

Cavaliers head coach Byron Scott is hoping to get Erden (groin) back before the end of the season, the Associated Press reports.

Spin: Erden has appeared in just one game since being acquired from Boston.

For Erden, this doesn't appear to be the case. I'm surprised Byron Scott didn't just shut Erden down for the season; that tells me that Erden simply can't play after all, and probably wouldn't be able to for the Celtics.

Murphy probably comes back Tuesday, and has the rest of the regular season to try and show he can make an impact in the playoffs, and possibly gives the main bigs a breather when needed.
