According to Gary Washburn, Doc says Shaq might be back as early as Friday. Probably another "believe it when I see it" kinda thing but it does seem like it really was just a very minor calf sprain. Woohoo

That and we're running out of regular season.

If Shaq can play, he needs to get on the court and show it.

Still... I really thought Shaq had done something really horrible to his achilles when I saw him hobbling that badly. It's good to know that he will at least be able to play another game for us.

No Shaq, but Krstic looks like he's back on floor as practice opens. Troy Murphy is out there, too.

Good to see Krstic AND Murphy practicing. Maybe Murphy will actually be able to get on the court on Tuesday against the Sixers.

Nenad and Troy both hoping to play Tuesday vs. 76ers. Doc suggests there's a small chance Shaq could play by week's end.

Very good news for both of them.  :)

I suppose a couple minutes of playing time couldn’t hurt.

Barring injuries, with a shortened playoff rotation I don’t see how he gets minutes. I hope that point was made clear to him when he signed.

NO it's not just you. He looked awful in the few minutes he attemped to play. Assuming JO and Krstic are available, not to even metion Shaq, I don't think you'll be seeing him playing come play offs.

I think he is good enough to get minutes and COULD be a help. However he has so little time to prove this and with his recent injury he has all but lost his chance to prove anything.

From here on out he would have to play like a difference maker to get any burn, even if it would be just for certain match ups.

I thought Murphy had started to look quite decent after his first couple of games in which he looked lost.

His shot looked better, a bit more active defensively (which is not much), looked better around the glass.

Remember, most of his playing time was spent with all the new guys, which gives him zero continuity in the little time he spent on the floor, and really of no service to show what he could give us when he plays with some of our big 3, which is where the value he would bring to the playoffs would be placed.

I think Murphy would be much better if he were used alongside JO or KG. I just don't like the way he and Baby compliment each other. I also don't think he's been given a long leash by Doc. Not many players can look good with minutes so sporadic. Especially one who is coming back from a long layoff.

Playing Chicago on Thursday without Shaq

I would have liked to have him playing so we get a glimpse of how we will do at full strength on the road in the playoffs. Oh well, maybe Miami on Sunday then.

With Murphy you have to give him time. He really hasn't played all year so he's rusty. P.J. Brown didn't exactly look hot when we first signed him either.

Become Legendary.
