I was excited to read that Rodman was elected into the Hall of Fame.

He definitely deserves it, but I was worried he wouldn't get in bc of all his antics.

Anyway, here's to you, Dennis.

Celtics fan for life.

I'm surprised he got in this soon.  I'm torn on his qualifications as a player.  Not enough offense to go along with his D and rebounding.  Also don't care for his disruptive antics on the court.

I've always thought he was one of the more underrated players I've ever seen.  A very tough competitor and someone I have a lot of respect for as a basketball player.

the greatest rebounder in NBA history and one of the most and best versatile defenders of all time absolutely deserves to be in the HOF.

Good.  Definitely thinks he deserves it.

5× NBA Champion (1989–1990, 1996–1998)
2× NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1990–1991)
2× NBA All-Star (1990, 1992)
2× All-NBA Third Team (1992, 1995)
7× All-Defensive First Team (1989–1993, 1995–1996)
1x All-Defensive Second Team (1994)
7× NBA rebounding champion (1992–1998)

Plus some would argue he should have been '96 Finals MVP.

The only problem with this is, I think if it was the other way around, not enough defense to go with the offense and scoring, most people would say hands down he should in. No doubt Rodman should be in, glad to see the hall agrees with me  ;D

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Good class with him, Mullin, Gilmore and Satch Sanders. Seems the Hall is slowly righting some of the wrongs. Still too many coaches though.

I very much like Rodman, but I don't think his lack of offensive game should warrant him to enter the Hall of Fame. Consider how difficult it has been for some very deserving players to enter the Hall (DJ), and this guy with a very very limited offensive game, with no efficiency could get in based on defense and rebounding alone entered on first ballot. I don't think that's enough. Rodman really is simply a very good role player, nothing more. And as far as I'm concerned, role players are not what makes the Hall of Fame.

I'm torn on this. I'm leaning towards a bit 'undeserved' but I can see the argument. There are certainly more undeserving players in the HOF.

What about a guy like Adrian Dantley, who is enshrined.  He never did much besides score at a very high level.  Is he deserving?  I wouldn't call him a role player, but he certainly was one-dimensional.

When somebody is elite on one side of the ball -- and I think Rodman was -- you pretty much have to enshrine him, I think.  We're talking about a top-3 rebounder of all-time and one of the best defensive players of his era.

Premier rebounder, top flight defender, vital member of five title teams, he deserves it. As for the wait? Who knows with the HOF.

He deserves to get in, even if his individual accomplishments weren't enough the 5 rings would do it.

Let's just hope he doesn't turn the acceptance speech into a travesty.  Some kind of online gambling site henna tatted on his face would be funny though.

This is either his first or second year of eligibility - playing overseas counts when determining the five-year wait.

Congrats to Rodman, it is well-deserved.

Glad to see Satch, Arvydas, Mullin, and Gilmore make it, too.

I loved watching Sabonis play..he was masterful with the game. him, Brad Daugherty and maybe Vlade Divac were some of the best passing bigs to play the game in my time.

The ST Johns and Georgetown rivalries were the first memories that were brought back when I saw that Mullin was selected...it just doesn't get much better than Lou Carnesseca, John Thompson, Patrick Ewing, Bill Wennington, and Walter Berry.

I have memories of Artis of him being one of the strongest centers to play the game...in the golden age of centers (IMO), he held his own.

Admittedly, Satch was before my time, but from what I've read he was certainly worthy of getting the nod today.

Congrats again to Rodman and the others who were selected :)

Defense is half the game.  He is the best rebounder in NBA history and one of the best and most versatile defenders of all time.  He wasn't just very good, he was one of the all time best in two separate skill sets.

I love Dennis Johnson as much as the next Celtics fan, but DJ wasn't an all time great at anything, Rodman quite simply was an all time great in two critically categories and as such is far more deserving of the HOF then DJ is.
