Well it appears the heat aren't going to let the Celts get any additional centers.  They are close to signing that bloated bag of wind Eddy Curry. I don't see why they would do that to help themselves because they already have 3-4 marginal bigs, so my feeling is it is to keep him away from the Celtics.

I see a lotta "mights", not any "done deal"-esque reports.

Link to the latter?

I don't think we would even consider bringing in Curry. The guy is a toxic presence in the locker room, horribly out of shape, and has played 10 games in the past 3 seasons. The only reason Riley would consider signing this guy is because of his sheer size.

you are right, it is a 'might' maybe a 'more than likely'.  How does this make sense for the Heat though?  They already have Dampier, Z, and Magloire. What does Curry add that those 3 don't already possess?  I think keeping him away from the Celts is a part of the equation.

They'd be better if they got Dell Curry

It might be that the Lakers front court seems more terrifying now, and they want insurance in case they go to the Finals. Not that it makes much better sense.

If they do this deal, I wouldn't be surprised if it includes a non-guaranteed option for next season.  Miami may just be interested in getting an early look at him for next season.

Yeah, I would expect the same thing.

Signing a player who has played as little as Eddy Curry has over the past few years ... this late in the season ... is not about this season ... It's about next year.

Not surprised Miami are interested in Curry. Pat Riley has been following him for years. Strongly linked to Miami in trades on a couple of different occasions.

How does this make sense for the Heat though?  They already have Dampier, Z, and Magloire. What does Curry add that those 3 don't already possess?

Low post scoring -- none of those guys are the scoring threat that Eddy Curry was (is?).

Completely different type of skill-set (low post scorer) to the other three. Big Z being a jump shooting five while Dampier + Magloire are slow footed defensive orientated garbage men.

My first thought was "who the heck is Curry" and my brain conjured up images of point guards

If they sign him, they have to cut someone right? Who would they cut? Maybe they will cut someone useful. You never know, they did cut Arroyo to sign Bibby ater all.

Obviously he's not going to be on their post season roster, but techinically he can't right because he was signed to late?

So then I don't believe it's a block against the C's.

The rumor is Dexter Pittman.

Jamaal Magloire or Dexter Pittman seem the obvious choices.
