I'm curious if people think Philadelphia is a dangerous team for whoever is its first round opponent (at this point, Miami).

I read this elsewhere, but want to get a poll on it.

My feeling is that they might make it difficult for whoever they face in the first round, but I don't see them advancing (it goes without saying, of course, that I'd love for them to knock off Miami if that's who they face).

yes, they're dangerous and they can knock off Miami because they matchup well with them. i still see MIA winning in 7 though.

They can take a contending team to 6 games IMO, but that is it.

I think they are small, but they are now committed to defense under Collins.

I'd say they are dangerous.

I always root for the Atlantic Division. Except the Knicks, until they fire D'Antoni

They are a dangerous team to me. Andre Igoudala playing the point forward makes this team tough to guard with his skill level. They have a post presence in Brand, versatile big in Young, and has 3 point shooters. They are really good when they get out on the break

I think the Celtics would beat them, but I think it would be grueling and even go to 6 or 7 with the way they are playing. That could tire the Celtics out. I would love if they face another top seed and upset them

In the sense that they could take their opponent to 6-7 games, yes.

They might muster up a couple of difficult games but they are not a threat to win a series.

Honestly I think they are overrated, they are not upset material and not even a "6 games potential" opponent. I see them potentially causing trouble on their homecourt but simply not being a threat on the opponent's hometurf.

If we were to face them I think we would handle them easily, without the trouble we've had all season against them because two days of rest would be a big difference.

Any team that makes the playoffs is a dangerous team.  If they don't beat you, there is always the chance that you will beat yourself.   As they say, anything can happen in the playoffs.

Dangerous for the C's; but not many other teams. Remains to be seen how they can play against Shaq.

In playoff basketball good coaching becomes more important than the regular season.Doug Collins is a better coach than Erik Spoektra...if they faced the Heat, they could possibly beat them in 7. If Philly can put a high priority on limiting the Heat's transition game they can win in the half court if they concentrate on pounding the middle.Brand can take advantage of his matchup in the middle and when Iggy play more pt.forward and become more of a facilitator they usually win.

If by dangerous you mean athletic.

Possibly dangerous to an unathletic team like us depending on how Iggy+Brand play.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Throw out the W-L of the regular season, because all playoff teams are dangerous. Even the Grizz can take the "mighty" lakers down.
