Anyone else catch the almost derisive laughter by both slick Rick (purple and gold) Fox and C Webber on last night's pre-game when the subject of the Celtics as contenders came up.

There were many comments by both of them as to the age and injuries of this team, said, in what I perceived as to be a very disparaging way, and apparent conclusions by them of us not having much of a chance as contenders, really discounting us.

I know we are not often given the respect we deserve by the national media, but these guys were almost gleeful in goofing on our age and injuries.

Anybody else feel this?

TPs to anyone with the video clip. I didn't DVR that portion of the telecast, so I might be Roger Clemensing (misrememberring) here, but I'm pretty sure of the general tenor of what I heard.

Yeah, there are definitely a lot of people that have enjoyed our fall from being a contendor - but they almost enjoyed it too much, very unprofessional

And what did they have to say after the game?
"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

I disagree with Web on this, but he's pretty brilliant at what he does.

cosign.
My approach was to just mute the sound when those guys were on.  That and head to the kitchen for a snack...
Celtics fan for life.

Webb has been one of the biggest Rondo supporters for a while now, so I'm pretty sure the banter was nothing personal.  And remember, It's easy to be hard on the C's right now (just read most of the threads on celticsblog the last two weeks  ;D)

NBA TV and TNT are undercover Laker homers
When the Lakers play on their network, its like Daddy's home and they grin from ear to ear to overrate them as much as they can

I totally agree.  It wasn't so much that he was bashing the C's (which he was), it was the illogical / cliche-ridden babble that was coming out of his mouth.  He is lucky to even have a gig as an analyst.  TNT could do a lot better, and normally does.

I think Weber is actually pretty insightful, and has been a big supporter of the C's in the past.  I think Weber is just saying what he thinks.  I don't mind if the media gets off the C's bandwagon, puts more of a chip on the big 4, and sometimes that is a really good thing.

Fox is an arrogant idiot.

Nothing that Rick Fox says is usually worth paying attention to...

Webber however is one of the few guys who are actually good at what they're doing on tv after their NBA careers and I didn't have much of an issue with what he was saying last night...
He was critical but he has every right to be just that.
Just read celticsblog and you'll realize this team hasn't exactly inspired a lot of people to be confident in them lately...

I like Webber but it was Fox's first night behind the desk and it showed.  He really looked bad up there.

As for bashing the Celtics, the media are generally front-runners, and we've looked pretty lousy recently.  I wouldn't read too much into it.

It was more the tone and jocularity and seeming enjoyment of both Fox and Webber about the Cs misfortunes/circumstances that I had an issue with as opposed to content.

Your point and others' on here about the Cs recent play (or lack thereof)and injury situation is well noted and can't be argued. They haven't inspired a lot of confidence lately, but to be so dismissive of the Cs chances and the mannner in which it was done was what I took offense to.
