Per Ainge on WEEI: "Shaq is either going to play Sunday or Tuesday"

Let's see if this comes true or if his comeback gets delayed again!

Other interesting tidbits : Ainge said each member of the Big 4 has seen his play drop in the last 12 games. Said the team won 5 games after the trade and there was no emotion. Ainge also thinks Green has been fantastic so far as a Celtic and thinks Delonte hasn't been the "real" Delonte yet.

I really wish Ainge would stop doing this.  These are the things that get him in trouble, and which make people come up with conspiracy theories.  He cannot know for sure Shaq will play, because the swelling can always come back.  And if it does, suddenly, he is leading the fans on.

This is what I don't get.  Yesterday, he said he had no idea, it could be one week, it could be two.  Today, Doc talks about the injury potentially bleeding into the playoffs, which worries him.

Now, Shaq will be back in as soon as three days?  What the heck happened?  I'll be glad if it's true, but it really seems like the team is making it up as it goes along.

Yeah well maybe we can think this time he is right... but it's true we won't believe him till we see Shaq on the court.

The interview is quite interesting (and still going on), Danny sounds quite on the defense compared to usual. And he basically admitted (in politically correct terms of course) the whole team is coasting right now.

They're probably at the point where they're saying its go time to see if he can give us anything. Not really any time for further rest if we want him to contribute.

Ainge also said momentum going into the playoffs is really overrated in his opinion. Said in '08 we were rolling and almost lost in the 1st round, were bad in '10 and beat Miami easily. He also said that the fact the team is a veteran team helps, and that momentum is created in the playoffs, not before.

Said the team won 5 games after the trade and there was no emotion.

In what context?  Did he mean the team was playing without negative emotion, like some are saying?  Or that the positive energy wasn't there, and that the wins were fool's gold because the team wasn't playing Celtics basketball?

My observations were more in line with the latter, but since Danny's job is to spin, my guess is he was suggesting the former.

Yes you got it right, he meant they weren't playing with negative emotion.

By the way you can listen to the interview here : http://player.streamtheworld.com/_players/entercom/player/?id=WEEI

He just said that the fact that Perk got hurt after the Warriors game played a part in the trade (along with Marquis' injury), and that they felt comfortable with JO, Shaq and Baby.

Ainge sounds SO defensive in this interview. Its like he is trying to talk himself into the fact that his trade didn't shipwreck the season. Don't blame Krstic for all the career games by opponents centers?? Is he watching the game? Krstic can barely defend a chair.

Should he not be defensive?  The fanbase (and talk radio) have been close to panic, and have been coming down hard on him.

How should he be reacting?

Ainge : "I felt more confident that Krstic was going to make it through the rest of the year healthy than Perk for sure".

Danny "Pravda Editor" Ainge. Jeff Green has been "fantastic." Wow, talk about hyperbole. Jeff Green  has been okay in some games and has been completely invisible in others. Overall, he has been okay.
