Here's how Doc Rivers might use Jermaine O'Neal in the short-term.  He will play him 15 minutes today with the second unit, get p---ed at Krstic's defense, and play JO 30 minutes in the next game.

If JO is healthy, he becomes the starting C until Shaq is healthy.

I can't see where this is messed up.
In theory I agree.  But it is messed up if Doc insists on playing Krstc more than JO.  Or at all if both O'Neals are healthy.

I don't think he'll supplant Kristic right away though.

Probably not.  But if JO can actually stay healthy this time, he (or Shaq) should be starting by playoff time.

And, assuming the O'Neal's stay healthy, Krstic should be completey out of the rotation.

I'n not trying to hate on the guy because he does try.  But his man to man defense (or lack thereof) really changes the dynamic of our defense in a bad way.  We need someone in there can won't be a pushover.

Playoff rotation assuming perfect health (minutes in parentheses):
Rondo (40) Delonte (20)
Ray (36)
Pierce (36) Green (20)
KG (32) Baby (20)
Shaq (20) JO (16)

20 with hyealthy team is just way to much for BBD
is too much even with one more big injuried
if all healthy put 10 mins on him and kristic
if not put 15 on him and kristic
the one who plays and scores stays in the game

General depth chart
PG: Rondo/Delonte
SG: Ray/Delonte/Wafer
SF: Pierce/Green
PF: KG/Baby/Green
C:  Shaq/JO/Krstic

Main concerns
-Health of Delonte, Shaq, and JO.
-Creating an offensive and defensive rhythm for the bench.
-Can Jeff Green be more assertive offensively and on the boards like Paul Pierce?

Yeah those minutes seam about right to me. There's not much to mess up minutes wise with JO. He'll probably average between 15-20 minutes per game.

I'd honestly be shocked if Davis averages much below 20 MPG in the playoffs. Among the bench players, he knows the system best. And more often than not he has been the C's closer at the 5 for ages.

Once the playoffs role around Davis will return to his energy role, and not be the bench 'go-to-guy', because there will always be 2 out of the big 4 on the floor at all times.

The thread title makes it sound as though he hasn't bungled them already . . .

This is something people Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ed about before 2008, Doc is an excellent coach and knows exactly what hes doing. There is at least 25 teams that would love to have Doc as their head coach. The rotations are the least of our worries, this team is very strong when healthy and they'll be able to compete at a high level. I have zero doubts about that.

I would love to see Krstic knocked from the rotation because it'd mean that Shaq and JO are back and fully healthy.

Jermaine shouldn't only start he should finish. I ain't playing with Doc who owes his starters a new look and prepared center/starter. I don't wanna hear excuses on why JO doesn't know the system more than Baby crap. Baby is an expert, what has that mattered? I like Doc, but I was rightly upset with his rotations before the trade, not so much after. The personnel just isn't there. Now though, Jermaine is back, this should be a better transition then his start. This was their(Vito Doc and Danny) plan, remember that. I can take rust, but JO better be ready to go.
