Anybody remember this quote?

Quote
Shaughnessy: You're banking on Shaq being Shaq in the springtime (O'Neal has not played in a game since Feb. 1).

Ainge: "He's better than he was in the fall."

Link.

Unfortunately, that was 3 1/2 weeks ago, and Shaq still isn't playing.

Allright, I got some Tommy Points to wager. I've got Shaq playing over 10 minutes per contest in round 1. Who's ready to put their fictional money where their mouth via keyboard is?

Any appreciable minutes from Shaq, from April through June, will be an great surprise.

It's JO that this season is resting upon--and whose health we should all be praying for.  He didn't give us happy talk about his condition early in the year, so I'm hoping his new tone is indicative of successful surgery.

If our starting center isn't playing more than 10 minutes per game, we're screwed.  I doubt we'll lose in the first round, but we're going to need Shaq for more than 10 mpg to get by Miami, Chicago, LA, etc.

Ha!  You're afraid of round two, let alone three or four?

I hope not, clover.  If we're banking on JO being our savior, I think all hope is lost.

I expect that he'll make some playoff contributions, but I have major worries about whether he can handle more than 10 to 15 minutes.

I honestly have the same worry about Shaq.

I'm not, seemed like just an easier time table for the bet.

Yeah.  I just want 35 combined minutes.  We can survive the remaining minutes with a combination of Krstic and KG.  We need Shaq's and KG's interior presence, though.

Honestly, I have no reason not to believe doc/shaq that Shaq would be playing if it was the playoffs...

Theres nothing really that would equate this to the KG injury...shaq has a sore achilles, he didnt have surgery on his knee...totally different situations..

you've got a 39year old center who is going to be VERY important in the playoffs(maybe not against NY or whomever they play in the first round but against miami, chicago, LA) so why not rest him.

Either way, I expect we'll see him back next week..just like the JO injury lets wait until Shaq does a practice..Doc/Ainge dont want to commit to anything yet.

The reason for the low number is I can't see Shaq playing that much against our first round oppponent b/c of matchups.

NEW BET: Name your price, I'll probably take it. That's what Tuff Guyz do.

Yeah, pretty much my thoughts too.

I don't think Shaq is more than 15-20 minutes in the best case, Jermaine could potentially give us more.

Negativity, or realistic concern?
