TP MBz. I know some people rate our defense based on points per possession or something and give us a rating of 103.6 or something since the trade where we were 99. something before the trade, etc...
To be honest, the only number I'm interested in seeing is how many points does the other team score every night. And if we are only allowing roughly 88.9 points per game for the other team, that has to be league leading. I think our defense is fine.
I agree with you re our offense and I think the answer to our current problems are very simple and I stated it in another post - it's the lack of the "right" big man / men in the middle for us. As someone else said correctly on this post, we don't have that enforcer right now, our swag is a little down and teams are pounding us in the paint.
Getting a Shaq / JO combo back for a combined rough minute total of 25-30 a night would do "wonders" for this team in several key areas:
1. It would just give us that "big goon in the middle" enforcer threat.
2. It wil then allow KG to do what he does best - be an active, finesse help defender, rather than having to wrestle with the other bigs all night, every night.
3. If we are holding teams to 88 a night with no interior intimidation right now, getting that enforcer presence back could make our D scary good.
4. It will also open up our offense.
5. KG and Pierce will be rejuvenated - an go on a tear.
6. Krstic can focus on being an effective 2nd or 3rd string offensive guy.
7. Our rebounding will improve
8. Our physicality will improve greatly.
9. We'll get markedly deeper
10. It will be a whole trickle down effect.
The biggest key though is it will help our offense tremendously. We are actually doing quikte well defensively, especially considering we have no enforcer in the middle.
