Why are you surprised? A pinkie isn't supposed to hurt? Marquis and Shaq missed a lot of games last season because of a thumb injury...seriously.

If it hurts and is hampering your play...stay out and let it heal. No point in aggravating it this close to the playoffs.

Marquis had surgery--Shaq sat out because he's 90. Delonte is playing with a probable bone chip in his ankle...Shall we sit him too?

If the medical staff feels he needs rest, then sure. Danny signed a bunch of "handle with a lot of care" players...now we have to deal with it. There is no point in aggravating any injury before the playoffs.

Yes, for a jammed thumb...and that's what I was trying to say...don't judge the severity of any injury based on how "little" that part of the body is.

Great now we run the risk of further injuring Delonte (if that's possible )

Awesome

Well, according to Doc, once Delonte's ankle sprain heals completely, the bone chip shouldn't be a big problem...at least that's what I'm hoping for after reading this:

Quote
"We all have [bone chips], I have a bunch of them, really," said Rivers. "I just think, it’s floating, and there are times it pinches and they hurt. More than that, unless they need to be surgically removed, which his doesn't, it just becomes a pain thing. There will be games where he feels great, and games when he plays with more pain. [Friday] night, he actually twisted it a little bit and it was more than that anything else."

I didn't judge the severity of it. If Delonte can play through his ankle, and Steve Nash can play through a broken nose, our starting PG can play through a pinky injury that Doc said isn't bothering his shot, passing or ball handling, so they can work on getting this team's offense back on track.

Doesn't Kobe play with broken fingers all the time?

I have to echo the sentiment that Rondo being out has to have something to do with more than just his pinky, whether it's the plantar fascitis acting up, or just his head not being in the right place.  The pinky is just an excuse (perhaps for the coaching staff, not Rondo himself).

Doc said he isn't hurt...while KG said that Rondo's been playing hurt for sometime now and it was certainly bothering him....believe who you want..but I don't see how one or two games off for him will really hurt our team's offense...It's not like we are blowing out teams right now. We won't need to "integrate" him back in the lineup to facilitate the team's offense just because of couple of missed games.

I think you're right. Noah missed more than a month (or was it two?) with plantar fascitis...and Tyreke Evans has been out with the same injury for quite a while now. Rest is the best treatment for it.

I hope it's just that Rondo needs rest... we need Rondo.

About the Co-b broken fingers... are you sure you are not mistaking him for Chuck Norris or something? He hasn't played with a broken thumb, and those "broken fingers" are more like arthritic fingers with an occasional broken finger.

You are absolutely correct. We don not need to "integrate" him back in the line up, we need him to "initiate" the offense like the first half of the year. There's something amiss, and since there's only 4 practices left this season, it seems like it would behoove the team to try and fix it before the playoffs start.

Rondo has been running our offense for a few years now. He is not going to forget it if he sits out 2 games. Our offensive struggles are a combination of trying to integrate the new players and our PG's recent slump...which, imo, is because of playing with an injury and perhaps mental fatigue. Rest can only help.

Not his thumb, but I'm pretty sure Kobe plays with sprained or broken index / middle / ring fingers.  I remember hearing that his fingers at times look painful, even crooked because of how much he gets hacked etc.  Yet he puts on tons of tape and gets shots and plays through it.  Say what you want about Kobe, but he's an iron man.
