You're most likely right about not getting the 1st seed but having the best regular season doesn't necessitate winning a championship.

No, but wouldn't hurt. If you're the best team and have home court then it should help. I fear we aren't the best team anymore.

I agree that it would be helpful to be the first seed,  but we weren't gonna have home court guaranteed no matter what considering at least the Spurs have had a better record than us all season.  Plus the playoffs are all about who the best team is in that moment.  Momentum swings back and forth and I still have faith that the C's can get it together at the right time to make a run at a championship.

Lols, I guess losing to the Memphis Grizzlies, a team that is currently the 8th seed in the West didn't exactly help our chances of remaining the first seed in the East -- I doubt that the San Antonio Spurs would want to drop a home game to the Grizz once the playoffs actually start :-[

Combine that with the fact that the Chicago Bulls recently defeated the Grizzlies at home and you can start to see why teams like the Bulls, Lakers, Mavs and Heat have gained on us or surpassed us in the win/loss column.

With only two weeks left I'm hoping that at the very least our guys can remain healthy for the playoffs and make sure not to drop any more seeds. We have games against both the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls before the end of the season so there's always that to think about...

wow i've been away for a few days and it seems like these 2 lost got people in panic mode

guys its ok, i dont really care if we get 1st seed or not? Home court or no home court. I don't care about Doc Rivers said about "we would've won if that was our home floor" thing

honestly, i knew this to begin with when we signed shaq, JO, perk came back. I knew we would NOT win 60+ games, 60 is possible but i know injuries would kick in

even if injuries do not kick in, as always the Celtics will always start out the season strong and then have a slump afterwards...this team is old so they will get tired after 40-50 games

but this team is built for the playoffs, just like last year, once the regular season is over, they have a few days to get it together, practice hard, and no more back to back games, if we finish the first round opponent quickly, more rest for us...I think this team will be ready when the time comes and i believe that Shaq and JO is just taking their time resting up, they WILL be ready

keep on believing guys

first of all the number one seed is gone, that's true but the 2nd seed is still likely to be with us...

that means we face knicks in the 1st round and then the winner between Heat-Sixers at home.

second of all you are forgetting that the bulls have to go through the magic, yes the magic have sucked in big parts of this season but they have the finals experience the last 2 seasons. they will beat the bulls

finally, even if we face the bulls in the finals on the road I can't wait for that to happen, i'm looking forward to that.

the NBA finals though, if we face the lakers and they have homecourt it's going to be hard especially with the refs.

I might add also, the Magic are the tougher matchup for us, I would like to avoid them more than the heat or the bulls, actually the bulls haven't done anything, first round exits the last 2 years.

Based on recent history and the remaing games to be played, it's hard to believe the celtics will end up ahead of the heatles. Might tie them, which would make your statement correct, but the Rockets and Cavs and Wizards are going to have to help (game 4 @ the heatles is a statement game for them to avoid the reg season sweep).

As for the Bulls, they are unproven in the playoffs, but talking about their last 2 seasons is meaningless - the coach and system (read: defense), not to mention their success -  are too different for that to matter.

You're most likely right about not getting the 1st seed but having the best regular season doesn't necessitate winning a championship.

Having HCA advantage over the Lakers probably is necessary for winning a championship, though.

Having the best record wouldn't hurt but what it takes to get the first seed might hurt. We're clearly not playing our best right now but I don't see any teams playing at a higher level than we were for the bulk of the season.

That's out too. Our season is in a shambles.
