  • Another undersized Celtic...
Any time a team brings an ounce of physicality and aggresisveness into play, this team crumbles like a girl scout cookie and concedes.

Thin mints and samoas are actually two of the more structurally sound cookies I've encountered in my eating experiences.  I would be curious to hear others' input on this.

Perhaps a more apt analogy would have been to Chips Ahoy's chewy variety, though I understand that would have not provided the basis for the contrived gender reference.  So it goes, I guess.

Nay, the Fig Newton is by far the softest, chewiest of all respected cookies mentioned!

Please...no more cookie posts ;D.

I had forgotten about a stash I had put away....I think I'll have a late snack of them tonight.

My sweet tooth is calling me again.

You guys really need to open your eyes and look at the team right now.

They are softer then toilet paper. Kwame Brown and DJ White owned them last night.

And your kidding yourselves if you think the Celtics are going to beat Minnesota without Kevin Love.

Beasley will most likley have a career high, as well as other scrubs nobody has heard of going off for big numbers.

DJ White also caused big problems for the lakers, Chicago, and spurs recently.

I think it's more a factor of teams not being familiar with him, then it is an issue of him being a lower caliber player.  Not saying that it excuses the C's play, but for that specific player...I wouldn't be surprised to see him become a familiar face next yr. and beyond.
I liked DJ White coming into the draft three years ago.

Injuries have slowed him down and playing time was hard to come by for him in OKC but he was a good prospect when entered the league. Not a star potential but a guy who could become a rotation worthy player. He reminded me a lot of a post-injury Antonio McDyess (back at the draft).

I haven't seen a lot of him this season but I am looking forward to seeing more of DJ White and whether he can get back on that course or not.

Semantically sound post as always, Professor.

I was thinking more like a freshly baked biscuit at Kentucky Fried Chicken, until I recalled that the last few I've had had the consistency of the very puck that Bobby Orr fired past Glenn Hall in the 1970 Stanley Cup Playoffs winner.

I like how this topic got derailed by a girl scout cookie reference.

Prolly not a good move around dinner/snack time.  :D

As likely culprit, my intention was less to derail the thread and more to address the one area in which I thought I might have some original insight to contribute.

I don't consider myself qualified enough in game-to-game big-picture hyperbole to remark otherwise here.

Steve, you are a God among men.

"So it goes."  I'm going to think of you from now on as the Vonnegut of Celticsblog.

Sigh. Correct again.

A career of game by game pragmatism leaves me with a jumpshot like Rondo's in this long-range game of hyperbolic disaster one-upsmanship, Professor.

I guess I'll just renew my film study of Billy Donovan's post-time out execution.

Hahahahahaha.

Perhaps the Celtics are a "finesse team," although I think that's a better label for their offense rather than  their defensive style which I would say is more of a "gritty."  But I disagree with them being "soft."  The Celtics have shown for seasons now that they're one of the most mentally tough teams in the league.  Doc has said many times in games where the other team is being overly physical or trying to provoke them that if they want to show the other team how tough they are, beat them on the floor.  I think the recent New York game was an example of that, the Knicks were more physical, but in the end the Celtics won because they were tougher.

The Celtics are still an extremely mentally tough team.  But, yeah, I agree that the bigs in our current rotation are very soft as far as banging and physical play.  Kristic and Green are pathetic in terms of toughness.  KG isn't a banger.  At least Baby gives us one big who can do some banging.
