I'm pretty sure there are other backup small forwards in the NBA than Jeff Green, though.  Anthony Parker was reportedly ours for the taking.  There's been some suggestion that we could have gotten Battier for little more than Nate, maybe Semih, roster filler and draft picks (in a three way with Golden State and Houston).

Danny went for the highest risk, highest reward move.  However, to argue that this trade had to be done is nothing but a fan-created fiction.

Well well well...KG saying the same thing some of us have been saying all along. I wonder how the trade apologists will spin this one.

And those are "suggestions", not a sure thing. If Houston was so willing to deal Battier, some other team would have taken him. I liked Perk, but he is being vastly overrated. Bottom line is we were winning w/o perk before the trade. People act as though his aura on the bench is what drove us to victory.
Once we get JO and Shaq back we will be fine. Did we not thump LA when Shaq was playing.


I'm not at all happy with how the team is playing, but its not entirely chemistry. Rondo needs to step up and we have to execute our offense better.   
We're missing key pieces right now. Once we get our actual team back, we'll be fine.

I still like the trade, because the reality is the offensive problems on this team would have existed whether or not we made the trade.  I just think the trade filled a more pressing need and still believe Shaq and/or JO will be fine come playoff time.  In fact, if this was the playoffs I think both would be playing right now, they are just being as cautious as possible to get them as close to 100% as possible for the playoffs.

And let's not kid ourselves, Perkins hasn't exactly been a shining star in OKC.  He is playing 24 minutes and averaging less then 6 points and just over 7 boards a game since the trade and is one knee bump away from missing the rest of the season.

In the game we beat LA, Shaq played 12 minutes and Perk played 27.

1. this team has no chemistry
2. they are basically throwing up the white flag and just limping home to the 3rd seed. They stink right now. Attitudes, effort, everything. They have no drive
3. I have given up on seeing Shaq and JO this season..and if we do...they will have some leg issue where they miss games again.
4. Since the trade...the main 4 have been disinterested.
5. they are soft now
6. I don't see this team getting through Miami and the Bulls as a 3 seed. I honestly think they will struggle to make it out of the first round

I don't know, you tell me:  has Perk helped OKC?  They've gone from being a very poor defensive unit to one that plays at a league-leading pace.  (That 98.9 DefRtg would be higher than Chicago's current #1 defense.)

Players contribute more than their stats.  I'm just surprised that so many fans seem to be arguing the opposite.  If we want stats, why don't we trade KG for Zach Randolph, for instance?

And here is another guy who might know a little bit about chemistry -- Ray Allen -- and what he said after last night's game. “It’s not about making excuses,” Allen said, “but I think the chemistry with the new guys is still being built.”

11 games left in the season and they are still bulding the chemistry. Don’t think that is going to happen. Honestly, if guys are talking about chemistry problems with this few games left before the playoffs, it is a pretty big stretch to think that they are going to be tip top and ready to go when they start.

Jeff Green is one of the most passive basketball players I have ever seen -- hope that changes soon.

I think blaming the trade for our bad recent play, be it Doc, players, or fans, is a cop out.  The Celtics were 34-9 and the #1 defensive team without Perk this year.  I know everyone liked Perk and I get chemistry but I just can't believe that Perk sitting on the bench helped our defense.

The problem is that we have new players playing major rotation minutes (Green and Krstic).  That is a step back.  Even if we didn't do the trade, we would need to have someone new in the mix to replace Wafer/Daniels.  So I guess you could argue we would be better with Perk+Parker over Krstic+Green but we have to remember that we were 34-9 with Shaq+Daniels, and the hoped for end game is Shaq+Green.

I would guess that DA had questions about Perk's health and also felt that the O'Neals would net us the equivalent of one health big. Ultimately, it is the relative health of these 3 that is going to determine if DA made the right call.
