This is ridiculous.  By giving me 669 TPs with 120 or so posts that mod is mocking me.  Why?  Because some mod disagreed with me or thought my post was whiney?  TPs are stupid.  give me zero.  I don't care.

I am less likely than before to post outside of this thread because a stupid mod misinterpreted a post of mine and decided to deride me publicly in a way on this board that I cannot control.  How is that OK?

Okay, man, you're taking yourself *way* too seriously, but with this comment and several others in this thread.  I apologize if this is "pushing you away" or whatever, but you seem a tad bit touchy, and have jumped down multiple posters' throats in this thread.

Also, I'm not sure that calling mods "stupid" is the way to engender a lot of support around here, at least from the staff.

I believe it IS stupid to manage the board in a way that mocks someone for introducing an interesting or controversial thread.
At least one other person has said this is the most interesting thread they've seen in weeks.  All of my posts have been thoughtful.

I get 669 bogus TPs for that?  Please give me one good reason.

Mocking?  You opened up a board for discussion on a topic.  You're going to get various point of views on the matter.  Not all that I assume you agree with.   It's an open dialogue.  I'm not really understanding what there is so much to be upset about in this discussion.  Posters "mocking" you?  Where is this coming from?

Posters are not mocking me.  I think the posts have generally been interesting.  Some mod as an inside joke gave me 669 tommy points half way through this thread.  I think that is out of line and asked it to be changed to what I've actually earned or just give me zero.

The fact that a mod would do that in a thread that is about whether or not this community encourages frequent posters to respond to other frequent posters while ignoring others proves the point that the forum is discouraging infrequent posters from participating.  How is giving me 669 bogus TPs not an attempt to mock me?  I didn't earn those TPs.  I don't want them.  The mods are ignoring my requests that the real number be reinstated.  That's antagonistic.

I also agree with dark lord.
It really has nothing to do with the blog in general, and everything to do with how "tommy points" don't matter to you but you can't stand that you didn't have enough of them. Then once you got them you were upset they weren't earned.

TPs don't matter, you probably didn't get the full blast of it but we've had a whole lot of drama over them in the past. We helped solve those issues by issuing them very freely, give you a ton was a call back to that method.

Honestly this topic is very interesting and enlightening, and I'm glad we split it out.

One more thought on the subject -

There's clearly some validity to the OP's idea, clearly you've got some people who don't post often who feel somewhat alienated.

That being said, certain people's voice do get heard more on Celticsblog  but I don't think it has to do w/ the frequency of posts but the person behind it. Not just to self-deprecative, but I'm a relatively high-volume poster and I don't think that people pay that much more attention to what I have to say because of the 2 stars next to many  - my knowledge of the NBA is certainly above average, but probably somewhere near the median for people on this site. People tend to pay a little more attention to the people who've earned it through great posts and great knowledge - your Roy Hobbs', Who's, IP's - just to name a few. That's a quality & quantity thing. You skim through and pay attention to what they have to say because you've read what they said, and while you don't neccessarily agree with them, you do respect their knowledge base & ability to post a good argument

People come here to talk Celtics, I assure you, if you bring up something interesting and/or worth debate people will be happy to oblige. If you're not getting responses to your posts it's not because you're new: it's either it's not that interesting or its because you summed things up really, really well and there's not much to discuss - I could start a thread right now that says 'Glen Davis is the worst' and it'll get a billion more replies then the best statistical analysis of our bench anyone's ever seen. And if it's the first half of that, just lie to yourself and say it was the second (that's no attack, I skimmed through your Jeff Green thread, Drake).

Keep posting, keep hustling, and keep workin dat papa'

Perhaps the frequent insertion of Wes Matthews into senteneces gets tiresome. ;D

Agreed on all counts.

I just check into the "CB Bar and Lounge" when I feel ignored. It helps. Seriously.

Don't get me started on the staff decision to change the name of that thread!

I've been on the site for years and I only have 100 posts because RoyH and The Mean Girls run this place.

I don't think people consciously only respond to volume posters but the familiarity of their screen names might make people feel more comfortable.  Nickagenta tried finding a loophole to this problem by creating two screen names at one point.

Is that why I became PLamb? Huh. I was looking for a loophole and didn't even know it. Who knew?

Take it down a notch.  This thread has been pretty light-hearted, and if somebody gave you a lot of TPs, just accept it good-naturedly, rather than making it your cross to bear.

The thread has been light-hearted for the mods/high volume posters. You polarize the blog... I don't see how you can't see that.

A poster presents a relevant issue, albeit the wrong way. He should have started a new thread. Fafnir was kind enough to start a new thread rather than just delete the off topic posts.

Many people took the thread seriously... including myself. This has been my first time checking up on it since the original posts because I was at school but I can't say I'm surprised of what has happened.

A few mods have come on here saying that there are no cliques and then made inside jokes to one another, KC posted one his famous "Internet... serious business" pictures, and a poster who presented a good community topic gets grief and receives 660 TPs. Disagreeing with somebody is one thing. Mocking people is another thing. Roy has disagreed with just about everything I've said so far, but he hasn't been mocking anybody or posting pictures or referring to inside jokes.

EDIT: He just posted a picture of the Mean Girls and confirmed that they are him, IP, wdleehi, and Edgar. Relevant... not mocking posters who bring up issues in the slightest.

Why are Wesley Matthews jokes even popping up in this thread? Can Fafnir create a new "Wesley Matthews Inside Joke" thread and move all of those posts over there? I'm pretty sure Wesley Matthews references aren't sticking to the topic but since this thread wasn't created by a mod they couldn't care any less about filtering out off topic posts.

I still think KC's question is a good one:  is this an "issue" or a "problem", or is it instead just the way the world works, not just here but in almost all societies?
