Do you guys think Rondo will still be a top 5 point guard without Pierce/Kg/Ray?

If the Celtics resign Green to a long term contract will he be a star with Rondo or just another core player?

Rondo will really miss playing with hall of famers, but should be okay. Jeff green will never be a star.

I've always thought that we'd have several years of rebuilding following the "big three" era, and I still feel that way.  Rondo can be an important starter on a title-caliber team; I'm not sure that Green can, but time will tell.

Green still has a lot of potential imo. he obviously won't be an elite superstar

Green cannot play A defense. Until he does, he will be a poor man's Grant Hill. Hope he realizes this.

Rondo is a HOF PG.

 The future looks dim.

But it looks bright as the Sun if we get Superman.

That's going to be a horribly average foundation for a team.  A good PG with no playmakers to get the ball to and an average SF certainly doesn't equal success in this league.

Who is the average SG in that scenario?  Green is a SF/PF, so are you expecting some random pickup?

To be accurate, Rondo isn't really a top 5 PG right now the way he's been playing since starting off the season as arguably the best PG in the league.

But, a future with Jeff Green/Rondo...they can be pieces, but they're going to be pieces of a middling to borderline lotto team unless the C's land a whale...and I don't mean Eddy Curry.

I still look at it like this.  (2012)

Player:
Rondo

Trade assets:
Pierce last year contract
Jeff Green (sign and trade)
2 first (2012)
cap space.

Rondo and Jeff Green is not a very good core moving forward.

Even if you add BBD and Bradley, it still doesn't look great.  Danny is going to have plenty of work to do.

Rondo can't carry a team, so if we're going to compete at all after the Big 3 retire, we're going to need real #1 and #2 offensive options.

Mired in mediocrity.  Depending on the supporting cast, a team built around those two is probably low playoff seed or on the outside looking it.  Like I said it depends on what you would put around them.

I think Green is a good third banana on a team.  If you're asking to be your primary or secondary guy, you're in trouble.   If you could get an all-star to put with Rondo & Green and a strong supporting cast, then you're talking.

Two good pieces that need to continue growing to be great. I am worried, quite frankly, that what we see from Rondo is what we're always going to get: Flashes of brilliance, followed by a "what is he thinking?" stretch. Comparing that to the level that Rose is playing at right now is a very sobering thought.

Obviously, a quality 5 is part of that mix - one who can score, rebound and play a little defense.

It's a start. As we've seen over the last few weeks, it's too early to clear off a spot in Springfield for Rondo. And Green. I wonder at this point if it isn't time for another voice to be coaching Rondo. Headstrong players have a tendency to be the first to turn the long-time coach off.

Yeah, those who believe Rondo is just going to suddenly become an MVP candidate once the Big 3 retire are in for a rude awakening.

We need Howard as he's the biggest fish, and we need a couple strong drafts. Also we have to think about who we will have as coach. I don't think doc is going to be here that much longer.

Back to wanting Joe fired.
