The Heat. I don't see why I would expect the Knicks to win even a single title. The Heat have the top 2 players between the teams and their top players play both offense and defense. I'm not sure what the Knicks have.

The Heat also have their top 3 guys at discount salaries. The Knicks are paying top dollar for their top 2 guys. In other words, the Heat got great value. It isn't clear that the Knicks got value.

Both teams need a new coach to win it.

Both teams will struggle and compete to attract role players.

NYK will need a third core player beyond Billups.

Miami has locked in Haslem and Miller.  A large part of their success in the post season will ride on those two players being key pieces, but perhaps injuries this year make that unlikely.

Advantage:  Miami.

Will the bright lights of NY be a FA magnet?  Or the seductive sights of South Beach?  That seems to be the key.

While I don't believe either will win this year, the Heat have a more dynamic team (and therefore a better chance to win a championship) in the future.

They're going to combine the best of both teams and rename the team the "Hicks" ... they're looking ahead to 2021 as their target date.

As long as D'Antoni is in New York, the Heat.  LeBron isn't the best 1 on 1 defender at his position, but as far as a SF goes, he is much like KG on a team defense.  He is a good team defender, as well as an above average 1 on 1 defender.  Wade is no slouch on defense either.  If they can get Bosh to trade his skirt in for a pair of basketball shorts, then the Heat will be serious.

I was thinking about this the other day: It'd never, ever happen again but I think Larry Brown is the logical coach for this team. Good defensive minded disciplinarian could take these guys pretty far, surround Melo & Amare with "his guys."

Starting Lineup:

1. Eric Snow
2. Raja Bell
3. Carmelo Anthony
4. Amare Stoudemire
5. Dale Davis

I think the Carmelo and Amare would be great if the Knicks could surround them with players like Ray Felton, Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari and Timothy Mosgoz.

Oops....

Wait a minute, those are the guys they trade away for Carmelo.

Never mind.

But then they wouldn't have Chauncey Billups! Who'd take all the hero shots w/o him on the team?
