Beast Nenad

Hey guys. Thunder fan from OK here. So I got on your forum back at the big trade and talked a bit about it on both sides. It looks as though Nenad has begun drinking the blood of a rabid wolf again up there in Boston. What do you guys think of him? I said this weeks back - I always questioned his drive on the floor. I think he was getting a rap for being slow and unathletic and poor defensively. He would show flashes of Beast Nenad, but few and far between.  I think the guys in Boston and a new setting has done him well and put some fight back in him - fight that I didn't see much of in OKC.

I think most of us have been pleasantly surprised.  Nenad has given us much more than most expected. 

However, there's only one "beast," and he now plays center for your Oklahoma City Thunder.

He is playing much better than I thought he would. I've always felt that if you pass someone the ball on offense they are more likely to hit the boards and rebound because they feel involved. This could be the case in Boston.

He still isn't very athletic but he is a big with nice post moves who right now is giving maximum effort.

True. Some of us used to call him Beast Nenad in a somewhat sarcastic way whenever he would show flashes of showing a little aggressiveness.

He is playing much better than I thought he would. I've always felt that if you pass someone the ball on offense they are more likely to hit the boards and rebound because they feel involved. This could be the case in Boston.

He still isn't very athletic but he is a big with nice post moves who right now is giving maximum effort.

That is my thought.  He always started here, but I think (I could be wrong) that perhaps he felt as though he was on his way out as the bulk of the minutes at C started shifting towards Ibaka.  Everyone needs a little motivating factor sometimes - which it seems he's gotten in Boston.

He was not being used very effectively in OK from what I could see. Better fit here. Perk will do well w/ thunder as an enforcer. There is no Beast other than the one that goes by Perk.
Hope they appreciate him in OKC as much as we did in BOS. He is a Beast after all!

What did you think of Perk's first game on the Thunder?

He has exceeded expectations with his scoring but he needs to rotate faster and stay on the boards

I thought Perkins did well his first game, all things considered.  I can see that he'll be a great fit. He's definitely as advertised as far as being a big body that clears space and can really defend one on one against other centers in the NBA.  Sets good picks (although I think he got called twice for illegal screens), good communicator. Him and Ibaka should be a great duo down low once they start to gel more.  Perkins had it a little rough against Miami with foul trouble. Brooks has shown the desire to play small against Miami a lot and Perkins probably wasn't going to get big time minutes regardless. Miami's frontcourt is pretty weak in my opinion.

Krstic would be so much better if he could lose about 10-20 pounds and get in a weight room. He is a very skilled guy, big and young.  But he looks flabby to me.

I think he is thriving because of the Celtics slower pace of play.  Also since most of our guys prefer to get back on defense as opposed to rebounding, that leaves lots of balls for him to grab.
