Facts aren't crying dept:

Yet another blatant example of one-sided calls affecting outcomes (depressingly similar to Salvatore helping the Nets last night)...

The 1st half was just ludicrously one-sided, in the 1st Q it was 8-0 fts for the Heatles, and increasing to 21-3 at the half - in a 10 point game. How could the Spurs players NOT be affected?

Heatles fans were posting the usual BS about how it was due to the Spurs shooting jumpers, but at that point LeBrick was 2-8, all but 1 on jumpers, and the Spurs had more shots in the paint (19-17)...

As was the case at the half at the Nets - 10-1 ft advantage for the Nets, the 1 ft coming on a T for illegal defense. Shots in the paint, 18-17 in favor of the Nets.

Don't forget the 2 goaltending plays that weren't called when the ball clearly hit the backboard first without being called. Those are huge missed call( or non calls) that greatly effect a close game like last night.

C's still played like crap though so cant blame the whole thing on the refs, but they were horrible last night.

TP... The refs screwed the Spurs throughout most of the game.D.Wade is one of the NBA biggest whinners to refs.My dislike for him has grown to almost the same level of LBJ,just in a different way.

Amazing how 3 refs manage to avoid seeing that the ball hit the backboard before the "block" - TWICE!

It's a sad state of affairs that we can see the names of certain refs that are calling a game and cringe and know at that time that the game will be poorly called with a bias against one of the teams.  A few times the Celtics get the bias but more likely than not the bias goes for teams like Miami, New York, LA, etc. who have superstars on them who are Stern's darlings of the league.   How many of you don't cringe when you see Joe Crawford, Dick Bavetta, or Bennett Salvatore calling a game?   If you don't, it's because you haven't been watching the NBA for long.  If you do a youtube search for any of these refs, you'll find video evidence of their ineptitude.  Whatever you think of Tim Donaghy, his book gives very believable details about why the refs are so bad and why they will continue to be so bad as long as Herr Stern calls the shots.

The Celtics lost last night because they played lackluster ball to the fourth quarter tried to turn it up and couldn't.

They didn't lose because of the refs.

I actually thought we did turn it up on the 4th....weren't we down by 12 very early in the 4th quarter?

We made it a game and just didn't have enough to close the deal.

Exactly.  This is the problem with only looking at the box score.  I saw a jump shot happy team last night that took their own sweet time getting into their sets and then had the shot clock working against them.

^Pierce and Davis were going to the hole, but didn't get any calls.  It was very frustrating.

I agree.  The Celtics did not lose because of the refs.  They have overcome poor and one sided officiating many times.  If they played well it wouldn't have mattered.   What I am saying is that the refs are terrible and regardless of the outcome they called the game poorly and with a bias in this one and in the Heat/Spurs game as well.  If the Celtics played well, it wouldn't matter.  It's just very sad that the refs are even a topic of conversation for the way they influence games.

We were down by as much as 2, but I don't think we ever took the lead. Very disappointing to me.  :(

i disagree--there were many missed calls--some of which altered momentum shifts--several cost us baskets and it was a close game--to say the refs had no influence irregardless of our lackluster play is just as much a guess as saying the opposite---you can say you take the good with the bad,  or you have to overcome the obstacles such as bad officiating or other cliches but correct some of the wrong calls from last nights game and we may have won.  I think there is no question that it was a poorly officiated game.

And yes i do cringe when I hear Joey Crawford, Bennett Salvatore, Eddie Rush and a few others--how they continue to work is a mystery.  I would be curious to see a statistic of our won lost record broken down for each official.

I never made that claim - but it's just that indeed they were hosed.

In close games, one-sided officiating affects outcomes, unquestionably. When it's blatant enough to make teams quit, like the Spurs did, you see 30-pt blowouts...
